This applies to “work smarter not harder” Germany can make complicated mechanical parts but China they can’t! So rather than trying to build an engine they just started making batteries 😂 ! And Germany aren’t going to simply give up on their mechanical innovation. They are too old fashioned for that and soon this might lead to the end is many brands

This is a bit oversold drama, isn't it? Please show me one developed and well-regulated market, where Chinese automakers are crushing the competitors as much as they do at home. One thing is to be successful at home under a watchful eye and protection of the "big brother", but to compete fair and square based solely on value and quality abroad is a completely different game. I do not deny the rise of Chinese industry, but I am far more impressed with global advances of the the Korean giant Hyundai/Kia.

The main reason is not about VW decisions. VW and Tesla spent billions of dollars to develop everything. But China just steal and copies it, saving lots of time on developing something, that's why they could do much cheaper

Source China Observer: According to mainland Chinese media reports on October 9th, Weltmeister Automobile Technology Group Co., Ltd., once a sensation in the automotive world, is on the brink of bankruptcy.
Since October 11th, numerous owners of Weltmeister's new energy vehicles took to social media platforms, reporting issues with the car’s official systems - “Weltmeister Zhixing” and the "Xiao Wei Companion" Bluetooth key, as well as remote control functions, noting they were malfunctioning. The Weltmeister car mobile APP displayed "network abnormality," hinting that the backend service might have stopped. Additionally, the official Weltmeister car service hotline went unanswered, and their website experienced loading issues.
With the rise of EVs, a new challenge has emerged. As connected services become widespread, these key selling features turn into mere decorations when the vehicle companies face bankruptcy or leave the market. Many netizens realized that the issue isn't just about getting the car fixed after an EV company's collapse; it's that the car might not function at all. This is the immediate challenge facing nearly 100,000 Weltmeister car owners.

China works on copying and info theft, and if it can't seal it, then they "invite" companies to learn from them, and then they drive them out by massively subsidizing theyir own brands. They did it with Apple, GM, VW a,d now theyre doing it with Tesla. Already Tesla's cars are restricted to enter any government related building parking lots and areas. West is learning the hard way how the China relationship works.
But it takes time to re-restablish these supplychains in other countries or back on home soil.

For all those who are singing the praises of China's electric cars, I would think twice about buying a Chinese car. Why? For one thing, the quality is nowhere near what is being made to believe here. For another who wants to drive a car whose functionality, when push comes to shove, depends on the goodwill of the Chinese government? And more importantly, who wants to support a system that gains an advantage by disregarding patents and intellectual property of foreign companies and individuals and copying products blatantly?
In contrast to contract awards in Western countries, there are no international tenders. On the other hand, the Chinese government complains when a Chinese company is to be excluded from a tender (see Huawei). There is no legal security, freedom of speech and democracy in China. What a contract with China is worth, one sees what has become of democracy and human rights in Hong Kong after the takeover.
Unfortunately, many foreign companies have not yet realized that they have shot themselves in the foot with their production in China, which will ultimately either cost them their existence or at least be very expensive.
I am curious whether this somewhat critical comment will be deleted again. 😉

One of the biggest reasons is the European affordable ($20k-$40k) EV cars are extremely not worthy and unreliable. For example, an entire Volkswagen ID lineup seems and feels rudementary as compared to BYD Song Plus, Leapmotor C11. These chinese cars are packed with cool tech, reliable, beautifully made and most importantly, has a soul. But VW ID cars seems like a joystick, just a simple vehicle that gets you from point A to point B.

They really wonder ? German politics and it obedience to U.S. demands are responsible for this mess. China produces mass products with cheap labor and energy and puts advanced technologies in every car as a standard package. Design of Chinese cars is more exciting than boring German cars as well. Spareparts cheaper. I always will go for any Chinese car over any German manufacturer as they produce in China or elsewhere anyway and adding overhead on it.

Seriously, why don't you report the real news on Tesla? China couldn't compete straight on and fairly with Tesla in China, so they have resorted to outright banning people driving Tesla cars over claimed security concerns...look it up. Since so many Chinese work for the Government, or are in the military, this is unfair manipulative business practice to destroy Tesla in China. I hope foreign markets do the same to BYD to retaliate.

China is benefitting from previous good years of positive demographics and at being able to marry high technology invented in other countries with its relatively cheap labor.
All of those important underlying factors are on the decline for China.
