If plants need carbon dioxide to survive, why are we all aiming for net zero carbon? Please, honestly answer me
Ответитьi do not give a single f*ck.
I've wanted more of these ever since i saw pictures of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon as a child.
MORE GREEN ROOFS
mosquitos
ОтветитьRoots and moisture are traditionally a threat to masonry, rubber seals, paint finishes etc, so any vegetation has to be carefully chosen and maintained.
ОтветитьThe lack of greenery is why I would never move back to NYC
ОтветитьThe Trees are placed in the Renders for the Social Credit Score, they make it look like they care about the environment so they get better interest rates on loans.
ОтветитьFor me, this is worth the effort mainly because it makes cities look more liveable. I have seen enough drab and dry designs with not greenery at all to like this idea purely on that.
Whedre it's more green is up to time alone though.
Water is one of the greatest enemies of a structure. You would be gushing tons of water every day over and through these structures. The systems will leak, pool, rust the re-bar and cause the structure to fail. Remember the Champlain Towers collapse?
ОтветитьI always did wonder how they kept roots from damaging the strucure over time. I live in a city where roads and sidewalks have to be routinely ripped up and replaced because tree roots will crack them. I don't see how you could keep that from happening, unless you replaced all the plants with smaller, younger ones at some point
ОтветитьI mean they look beautiful. I would much rather live in a building with plants than in a concrete and steel box.
ОтветитьThe people pushing this kind of thing are the same people pushing to "green" all the deserts.... no realizing that other biomes depend on the deserts (such as the amazon rainforest) and that there IS actually life in deserts
ОтветитьI believe we should always create buildings with green roofs and trees/plants.
I understand the challenges for skyscrapers, but for duplexes/triplexes I think it would really change the scenery of most cities.
I would definitely live in a building with plants than one without. We don’t realize how important mental health is for city people.
There's a "duplicate" of these towers in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
ОтветитьIt definitely won't be a majority of skyscrapers. I think this would benefit on lower rise homes in great scale. Like vines up the side and converted green roofs
ОтветитьOk, that sponsor you chose to represent made me lose hope for this channel xD
ОтветитьWhy would people WANT animals so close and personal like this?
ОтветитьImagine an entire city of green buildings. Would be truly amazing to see. I hope it becomes the norm someday
ОтветитьDesign buildings to incorporate large areas of ground-based greenery. Attaching it to the building itself is just showboating but there's nothing stopping the addition of a tree-filled plaza at ground level in many cases.
ОтветитьCO2 emissions is what makes the world green.
ОтветитьCo2 has nothing to do with climate change
ОтветитьWhat! Cities produce 70% of global CO2, who are you trying to kid. Most Carbon Dioxide comes naturally, from volcanoes. If you are using figures that are not accessible to the general population, that the 70% of the gas is produced by the 8 billion people on the planet you are probably only going to reduce that by killing 4 billion of them. At the moment charities are encouraging third world growth by improving their living conditions and general health, wile telling them that God wants everyone to choke the planet by breeding like lemmings.
ОтветитьACROS Fukuoka. Been there for decades and is a good example of vegetation and building facades.
Ответитьall the BS aside, i just think they look fantastic.
ОтветитьI love it, It looks like something out of a fantasy
ОтветитьStop complaining mate - overall these building are helpful and hopeful
ОтветитьBosco, mine it!
ОтветитьAphids, Aphids as far as the eye can see.
ОтветитьI have to say I'm totally excited of this new avenue of building because I have a feeling this will transition into all aspects of our life giving us so many new inventions to integrate plants in our life.
ОтветитьMost green shit nowdays is just a marketing tactic.
ОтветитьAs an arboriculturalist, well leave the design of buildings to you, if you leave the tree planting in cities to us.
ОтветитьMy concerns are roots. As any homeowner would know or should know, tree roots dgaf and will creep anywhere and fk your concrete up 😂 im also concern that this will create a humid environment somewhat like a greenhouse effect with all the greenery clump together
Ответитьimma be real with y'all... ion give a fuck if they aren't eco friendly or practical, they look sick as fuck and i like them.
ОтветитьIt's better than those concrete jungles, it's gonna reduce local pollution, which is great, but it's gonna have limited impact on climate change, which is fine. Depression rates will go down a fair bit. Critters might find new homes, as long as they are not seen as detrimental to the actual greenery, or in the case of squirrels to cables.
Certainly worth the extra maintanence, there are less and less jobs so it will be fine from that end.
But we could have done better from the start as other comments have mentioned.
Greener than no trees at all 🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳
ОтветитьGood luck building enough solar panels to actually make the world sustainable
ОтветитьFDA cleared doesn't mean the products work, just that it won't harm the user...
Ответитьimagine those structures supporting hanging veggies acting like giant trellis. The yields would be insane!
Ответитьits prettu cool :)
ОтветитьGreen Covered towers do look better though.
ОтветитьJust the roof, every roof of all buildings wouldn't be much of a bother.
ОтветитьI think the mental health bonus will be a big thing with the other aspects being a bonus if they do help.
ОтветитьLove it!
ОтветитьI agree with all the positive points made about this. But this really isnt the way to fight any climate change nor pollution.
1000 trees isnt that many, especially at that small size. It is much easier and cheaper to plant many more trees in parks and forests than doing this.
He brought up concrete and other things that increase the initial work/pollution, but he did not talk about the actual maintanance costs and labour needed. 2014 is less than a decade ago, which means the building itself is pretty new. The real problems will and expenses will show in a couple of decades. The drainage systems will need changing and probably other more complicated features which again costs money - this money could again be used to plant more trees in parks and forests. This last is sort of a shallow point i made since money is being spent in much more bizzare ways than this, but still this isnt the way to make the world greener.
On top of that imagine how many flying gardeners a city would need and the expenses in equipment, training and safety spent per building if a city had even a portion of its buildings like this.
I agree with most that this looks cool and heartwarming. But i think this trend should be focused on smaller buildings such as family homes.
Over all i love this stuff, it comes from the same kind of thought similar to my efforts to bring stone housing back at least somewhat available. However i know it will and should remain an exclusive thing
Adding too much trees or letting them overgrow too much can make it look somewhat apocalyptic or abandoned in my opinion.
They only look cool in the right amount
Reminds me of final fantasy 13 buildings
ОтветитьI think the trend is of living walls and foliage covered skyscrapers is tied to the interest in eco-brutalism which I believe is because it reminds people of the post apocalyptic landscapes of The World Without Us, which inspired the looks of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and The Last of Us.
This sounds like a grim and morbid statement. But the youngest generations have no hope for the future, or at least under our current systems. They think that the only way they can ever achieve any advancement in their lives is for the modern society to collapse and for nature to reclaim urbanity.
If you need plants to help your 'mental health' then you have much larger problems that you need to address. Maybe living in a small box amongst thousands of other people in a filthy city is what you need to address.
ОтветитьI'm surprise you didn't even mention the huge housing buildings in China. They are bigger than all of those tiny little places you mentioned.
ОтветитьSticking trees on buildings is just a bandaid for overall poor city planning. If your city has a healthy amount of green areas mix in coherently with the urban areas then you dont need to do any of this.
