HOWTO: Replacing the SSD of the Chuwi MiniBook X N100

I tried to put linux mint mate and cinnamon, after i did it wouldn't connect to wifi. Please keep making these videos they are helping me a lot

Thanks for your job and your clear notes. I'm interested, a lot, in the battery of this nice toy. In your opinion, there is a chance to upgrade the battery (same voltage, different Ah) keep same measures? I can't found any information about that and, may be you know the answer... 😀 Thanks again.

@NotebooKLegends have you planed to make a video on how to clone Win11 to the newest SSD :p Because this is pissing me off :p and as your video are so well made i thaught you'd have one on it. sadely you dont. So that's why i'm kindely asking :D thank you anyway for the great other video those made me buy this little chuwi laptop

I have tried m.2 samsung ssd's and neither of them worked.

I have one on order. I intend to install linux (fedora). Some things I'll do.

1. take a backup image of the ssd before anything else. This will be done either by removing the ssd, putting it into an nvme caddy, and usisg dd to create an image on a linux pc, or by booting from a usb linux flash drive and dd copying to an attached usb HD.

2. shrink the windows partition. Boot from a usb drive with linux and gparted. 100GB should be enough, I dont use windows, but see no need to throw it away.

3. install linux as a 2nd o/s from usb

4. take another image backup of the whole ssd.

5. later: if needed, replace with a larger ssd.

Any thoughts?

By the way, this is all to replace a very old asus eee 900. as an early christmas present to myself 🙂

Did you see any difference with the performance of your new (PCIe Gen4) Samsung 980 Pro NvME SSD? My understanding is the N100 only supports PCIe Gen 3, and with only one PCIe lane.

hi, I recently ordered a version with n150 from aliexpress, have you tried to install a radiator on the SSD? I wonder if it will fit(around 0.8-1mm thickness)
