The backlash he received from this is disgusting. By sharing his story he raised awareness on child trafficking, an issue which is very overlooked and people don't really give it two thoughts nowadays. It's real and still happens regularly, but unfortunately not many people have the happy ending that Mo eventually did. Many simple drop off the radar, never to be seen or heard from again.

what a story ! It had me with tears. He has done well, but he was a victim, especially when his mom didn't know about him taken to the UK. I'm glad he came to a solution to the end, meet his real family, which probably helped him prosper further and to become the champion he is.

I’m so sorry that happened to him. It’s by the grace of GOD, that he turned it around and become one of the greatest distance runners the world has ever seen.

Mo was the guest speaker at my doctoral commencement in May 2022 and I recall him telling the story of migrating with his father. His speech was quite powerful around the message of resilience! I am so touched that during his speech, he was struggling with whether to tell his story! He is such an inspiration!

I feel that your story is very similar to the story of the prophet Joseph in the Bible and the quoran
We just do not know how Allah has planned our destiny in this life

Allah bless you

My guesses are, that the fake dad sent his wife to Somali, so she could bring back his son.
The fake wife out of jealousy, didn’t bring back the son the real Mo, and used his identity to make sure he would never be able to come to the UK one day. I believe that in their culture , they are allowed multiple wife’s and the 1st born son is important. So the wife was maybe jealous of the place, the real Mo was going to take in her husband’s lives compared to her own kids.

Maybe Yassim’s uncle back home didn’t think things were going to happen like that. After all he gave Yassim all his family contact number.
