FAMAS G2: The French Navy Updates its Bullpup

I can just say, Ian, that I like the FAMAS G2 quite a lot! I don't think this 100% NATO-compatible French Navy bullpup assault rifle is going to be replaced by the HK416 in the coming years, which is good news. Special forces in the army, the navy and the air force use a variety of weapons, sometimes transformed according to their requirements. The HK416 is less romantic than the clairon, no doubt about it, but it already exists in various adaptations according to the customers' requirements... German practical sense and industrial power.... So it goes...

Did they fix the brass case explosion issue on the G2 ?

Yes we can fire full auto with this gun so why almost all games do not allow players to switch from Rafale mode to full automatic thats very annoying

Do you still own the G2 ? could you do a full emptying of a 100rds Cmag or a Pmag D60 ?

Pity the French Army didn’t transition to the G2. It’s a really great bullpup and I suspect it they had, they wouldn’t have had to take on the HK416.

I have seen videos of the Legion in Mali and/or Niger and they have a FAMAS that has a combination front vert grip/trigger guard. In other words, it has the original big "loop" on top and ALSO and "loop" on the bottom. What FAMAS is that?

Can the FAMAS G2 really attach an UBGL like the M203 variant? I know the F1 definately could. I find pictures of F1 with M203 all over the internet. But I can't seem to find an actual clear picture of a G2 with M203. The pictures I have seen were either drawings (like for VG's) or airsoft. I wonder because the G2 has that "lip" thingie at the end of the foregrip (to prevent overreaching hand). Compared to the F1 which does not have the "lip" or the enlarged trigger guard to impede placement of the UBGL.

If the rifle is meant to be ambidextrous, wouldn't the ejected bullet casings hit you in the face if you were to hold it as a lefty?

Put this in a different comment - the 1/7 twist is not optimized for the SS109 bullet, it's optimized for the L110 tracer bullet. Remember the old M196 tracer bullet is longer than the SS109 bullet and no-one argues it doesn't work from a 1/12 twist. If you do the math, the optimum twist for SS109 is 1/11 not 1/7. The Swiss GP90 bullet is 1.5mm longer and the Swiss use a 1/10 twist, because they can do math. I wish someone would make a video where they shoot M855 from an M16A1. I used to shoot SS109 out of my old SP1 and it worked fine, no wobble at all.

I had an FA MAS G1, for anyone who is jealous, please don't be, the F1 model is much better. As he says, it lacks many of the features of the G2, but the main problem is the magazine well. It's very tight and to stop the mag release from being activated by accident, they used a very stiff spring, so basically you have to put the gun down, press hard on the button and rip the magazine out. Inserting a magazine is similarly difficult and if you don't push the button in first you end up with a dent in the magazine from the top to the mag catch hole created by forcing in the magazine. The FA MAS also has a complex fire control system the burst fire option is on the butt and the safety serves as the selector, very fiddly.

I've heard you can find one of these in the second floor basement of the tank hangar after you rescue the Armstech president from Ocelot.
