If a nice metric FN made mag won't fit send it back somethings wrong. I have an FN made FAL and every mag I have ever owned "more than 100" that were made in Israel or by FN all fit like his first rifle.

Well, I have one these from the 32300 range. The original barrel was said to be defective in "overgassing" and broke the extractor. DSA replaced the barrel and bolt. Unfortunately the "overgassed" barrel does not seem to give the 2.5 MOA the original did. More like 4 MOA. All my magazines (10 DSA 20 rounders, 5 Austrian, one Thermold 10 rounder, and two DSA ten rounders (the short ones) work and fit very well. I did have feeding problems and "bolt overs" but corrected that by removing a bit of the bolt hold open pin that was intruding into the cartridge on the left side of a loaded magazine. Yes, I would have liked to get my hands on a SA48 (or FN FAL) but was short the "green". I know there is hard feelings (to put it mildly) between Mark and DSA, but I'm inclined to go with Mark as he has ALWAYS answered my emails promptly and fully...no B.S.

Please explain even more in-depth. I’m new to the FAL.. kinda bucket list late. Do you have a book?

What is the fundamental problem with the DSA mags? Dimensionaly, where do they fail? No doubt they fucked it up, but where? It's not like they do not have the blue prints for the mags or enough samples to make a perfectly sized mag.

I'm glad I watched this review. I have a DSA FAL mag in my shopping cart right now. That's gotta go.
Can anyone recommend an affordable FAL mag that will reliably fit a Kel-Tec RFB? Thanks.

Sorry for being late to the show. My DSA SA58 is in the 27K Serial number family, purchased new. I've yet to have a magazine that failed to lock in unless I abused it to the point of no return. I don't have any aluminum mags, surplus steel and DSA mags. Some don't drop out freely but that's mostly because I run my equipment hard and they drop onto blacktop or tile "indoors". I'm constantly stepping on them or kicking them through all kinds of shit during classes and comps. They get cleaned out well with compressed air. My issue is feeding. Lots of double, misaligned rounds coming up and jamming or fail to feed altogether. I had the most unreliable rifle on the team last class. It was embarrassing, but I got lots of live malfunction clearing practice. I'm not going to be that guy again. I find myself having to rework the feed lips on them after a few mag drop reloads. Even with new mags I'm still having trouble. This rifle is 3 years old and lives an active life. Would you recommend MOSES mags? DSA has them in stock and I'm an hour from them. A little help from a great sage would be appreciated. Seems like the FAL files haven't been helpful to me.

It seems that he doesn’t know the difference between metric and inch pattern magazines. For what I can see, he is trying to load an inch mag in a metric receiver, and since the inch mag has a metal lug in front it will never fit the notch space for a metric receiver.

What is the best magazine for a R1A1 Standard Non-Metric Rifle.

I have a #37000 serial numbered Cold war 21" model FAL from DS Arms that I just purchased 3/20/19. I only have the DS arms mag and thermold mag both mags function well, the thermold is a bit of a tight fit. I'll be going to the gun show and wondering which brands usually have the best metal mags for this weapon as far as reliability?

I got an early DSA SA58 16in Congo I bought back in 1999. Accepts every metric FAL mag I own. Guess their QC has gone down hill since.

Man. You know you've f'ed up when your own mags dont fit in your own reciver. I think I'm going to go with an Imbel. Good think I did my research before buying. Thanks for the info.

I am fortunate in that my DSA receivers are in the 13 & 27 thousand range serial numbers. They both have run like a top and handle all mags I have tried. It is a shame that QC has dropped. Hopefully they will follow up and fix the issue the first time.

I got a used DSA FAL and my DSA mag works fine but the thermold magazines I got didn’t work all that great, they don’t fit and require bashing to get in, I think it’s an issue with the thermolds though.

I got one of these mags for my Imbel since they were really cheap, hoping for a lucky break. But, it had the same fitting issues as the mag you had plus the bullets nosed up in the mag almost every time after each shot. It's now just a show mag that sits in the rifle for when I'm not shooting it.

this is very disheartening. The only 2 current production FAL receiver game in town, and one of them have reports of out-of-spec fitment and another burning bridges over a dispute with a guy who literally benefits if their product are up to standard (he WANTS them to do good and produce quality goods). Imbels are scarce and they look to be 2x the cost on GB.
I'll just have go for a PTR91 and/or save up for a SCAR17, and maybe buy a 2nd hand FrankenFal way down the line. When there's near non-existent competition in a small niche-like market, not much choice for people who want to own a FAL.

You have definitely done me a service with this video series and i have seen them all. I was going to buy a DSA SA58 but with all the negative reviews about DSA's manufacturing (casting vs forge, mag issues, receiver issues etc etc.) I'm not so sure that i wanna take the risk. I'm also not confident enough to buy a parts kit and assemble it myself. I want the security of a warranty but i don't want to have issues with my rifle at all.

In your expert opinion, do you think it is best to wait a few months to let DSArms fix their manufacturing issues, or go with a parts kit? Either way it will be a user's gun, meant to be shot well and often.

Perhaps DSA needs to talk to all of their social media representatives, because in a post below, they acknowledged defective mag engagement dimensions.

First coonan now dsa. thanks for showing your experiences man, but probably still have to buy a type 3 and take my chances since it doesnt seem anyone else is currently manufacturing. what a shame since the magwell seems to always be the issue

Numba 1 GI, this makes me sad cause DSA is the last Mfg of FALs. Thank you for the info, and I still Love you long time. And I will always have the memories of the FALs you made for me brother!!! Best there ever were...now I'm kicking myself cause they aren't mine anymore.

Glad I have a Springfield Armory receiver. I am not 100% sure, but it may be Imbel.
