I love zoos, ive volunteered at 2 of them. My last go round was at a small zoo in S jersey while i was stationed at Mcguire afb. And when they got Giraffes one of them was a young giraffe named Tommy, and tommy was immensely smart and followed me around like a puppy and it broke my heart to see him.and the rest bored out of their minds in their enclosures. And id like to see eventually no need for zoos. Places like over in africa where the locals poach them and every other animal for all.manner of insane reasons from ground rhino horn bought by the chinese and all great apes being killed for other superstitious nonsense and greed.

Fun fact this type of ape are more friendly than aggressive.

For the life of me I can't understand why they didn't take him out on walks around the zoo. If it was so dangerous with the public around, then do it after hours. Taking Ken for a stroll around the Zoo for 30 minutes once a day would have avoided all of this.

Idk why they didn't just take him out on semi regular trips around the zoo. Would've been cheaper, encouraged people to come see Ken, and just made everything easier....as long as they didn't take him around Otis. Just an escorted walk around the zoo, simple and a win win.

Orangutans are the chillest, friendliest and most peaceful apes around. They wouldn't hurt anyone and would rather help an animal (or human) in need than to hurt them.
