I also put Australian native violets in the filter. I planted It in the lava rock. It drapes over the edge of the planter and looks great.
Also good to see you using electrical tape. Painter's tape is really expensive.

have you ever used a cyclonic filter before your filters to collect the detritus and extend the life of your filter floss. have seen several 3d printed designs for collecting dust out of the air. both are fluids so im intrigued to see if you have tried it

Hi, love your videos, I was recently maintaining the filters on my discus tank and the silence in the room was so nice it made me want to set up one of these. I have a 450l jewel vision with 25 discus in . Like in Canada acrylic is expensive here . It's actually cheaper for me to get one made from glass. My question is how can I support this above my tank ? It's going to be very heavy , is it safe to simply place it on top of the glass - it would only be supported at the sides and back . I was thinking 5' x1' x1' but this would weigh about 150kg don't want everything to come tumbling down but do want enough filtration for my tank . I'm currently running 2* FX6.

Question: will the weight of the diy filter create more weight on top of the tank and possibly jeopardizing the tank structure. I'm thinking of making one for my long 60 gallon with a planter box but worried about the weight on top of the tank.
