Valve is nailing the reliability. But it needs to pursue general use a bit harder. That's nonoptional to really expand its userbase.

Have you thought about an update video on this, or anything you would like to try... Im planning on getting a ryzen 5600, with a RX 6700 12 Gb, and putting steam os on it, in a ract mounted case, so i can put under my desk

I built a secondary rig prior to steam deck drop based on estimated steam deck hardware. Just to see how it would preform. Using windows has been getting old so I will be making the switch to 3.0 and using that rig as a console for my two younger boys in their room.

The fact that SteamOS is so usable proves something I've been arguing for years: the only think holding back Linux is the Linux community. Turn it over to a company that actually understands that an OS where "use the terminal" is the only answer to 90% of everything you need to do is never going to gain mainstream adoption.

I don't hate the red team, I love their CPUs! I ditched Intel, and I'm really happy with my laptop. But... My plan is to completely switch. But linux doesn't support my other programs from my work... and I use Nvidia. but I believe one day they will be translated pretty well

I'd love to install SteamOS on my Windows10 PC. I need to reinstall Windows every 2 months or everything goes to the shitter. So I'm currently running a broken PC which needs some restarts so the taskbar and UI loads properly. I still get enough fps for my monitor with newest games but Windows is always gives a bitter after taste. Especially the "InStAlL CoRtAnA" prompt...

I will switch simply because I have waited for a Windows OS replacement with the same ease of use, but pointed for Gaming instead of general use. A true Gaming OS.

sadly windows is not in trouble.. yeah i know lol. windows is more than gaming, it's device support mostly. most plotters work using a controller plugin that works in tandem with a device driver. example, graphtec and roland plotters using a plugin for illustrator or corel draw. the alternative is inkscape with its plotter support, which is a complete mess. the support for things like this needs to come soon, else windows is still getting in the way. also, we're still relying on stubborn WINE devs who still swear by clean room BS. fire these people already or create a new API that gives the finger to the clean room.

I quitted windows a year ago and I'm using kubuntu now (and mabox for testing arch) and never looked back..

Any thought of installing steam os disappeared pretty recently when Steam Big Picture got its interface updated with the same UI. I'm finding it hard not to be happy with Windows plus Steam Big Picture. Would love to see where this goes though...
