How To Disable Comments On A YouTube Video

In this quick tech how-to video, I’m going to show you how to disable comments on your YouTube Videos. I’ll walk you through how to do it in two different ways. The first is to turn comments off as a default for all of your video uploads, the other is video by video in the upload process.

To set this as a channel default, head to YouTube.com and make sure you’re logged into your account.

Next, click your profile icon on the top right and then choose YouTube Studio.

At the Studio homepage, select Settings at the bottom.

In here choose Upload Defaults, and then select the Advanced Settings tab.

Once in here, you’ll see Comments with a dropdown. Choose that and select Disable Comments.

You can also choose to disable community discussion comments by choosing the Community tab, Defaults, and under the discussions tab option, choosing Disable Comments.

When you’re done, hit Save and you’re all set.

To do this video by video, just upload a video like normal, and when you get to the Details page, scroll all the way down to the Comments and Ratings section, and in the Comments visibility dropdown menu, choose Disable Comments. After that just continue the upload process as usual.

And that’s how you disable comments on YouTube videos either by individual uploads or channel default.
