Without even try to diminish the artistic value of this beautiful recording, I'd like to warmly recommend two versions of these evanescent works played on period instruments: first, the one by Dutch pianist Bart van Oort and the second by the late English specialist in square pianos, Joanna Leach.
John Field's Nocturnes have been my go-to music for years whenever I am in need of relaxation (which is often).
I can't get his music out of my head. I found him a couple of years ago on a day that I discovered one of my sons had cancer. I listened to this particular recording over over again all day long. I was crying as well. thanks Kelly. He has recovered but it was a long journey.❤
Field’s Nocturnes are truly a musical treasure…they possess a “playfulness” not found in those of Chopin.
I'm sleepless tonight , but finding this music more soothing than my other favourites, like Debussy . I do do wish I'd found this in the days when I had migraines, I think it would have helped such a lot .
I clicked on this playlist to do my asignment that I was not able to finish for so long and finished just two minutes before the end. Miraculous work I tell you
Until a few months ago I was obsessed with Chopin's nocturnes, now I have a new obsession... John Field's nocturnes.

Herr Dimmler, please play my favorite nocturne - the one by Mr. Field”
Just read this line said by Natasha in War & Peace and decided to give this a listen while finishing the chapter!
Louis Spoor writes about John Field in his memoirs that Field's teacher Clementi owned a musical instrument store in St. Petersburg and made Field play for hours to show the instruments to the customers. Maybe this influenced his composing style, this is great background music, isn't it? Charming, subtle, not at all dramatic.
He was Chopin before Chopin.
Trash elites.
Maravillosa música
Sublime😌
What wonderful pieces of music.
Beautiful.
Meraviglioso!
Pure souls both, John Field and the pianist Jonh O'Conor as well. 💛

Chopin aimait beaucoup Field
My Dear Friends!
I love J. Field's Music too, especially Nocturne. It is my favourite genre, clear and calm. Thank You very much.
Love this collection but SO many ads! Kind of takes the piss out of listening to it
Very beautiful as chopin.
My favourite ❤
Too many ads. Like, I know you're trying to get some revenue but settle it down a tad, no?! Trying to relax to some Field and the loud, jarring ads take you out of the zone.
Ответитьwhy so many ads all of a sudden?
I think there is a mistake in the description : H 65 is in E minor (not major) ! And it's an Adagio.
In 1804, Field made his debut in St. Petersburg at the home of Prince Golitsyn. Soon he won the fame of the best pianist and teacher in St. Petersburg. After concerts in St. Petersburg, which were held with great success, Field decided not to return to his homeland. In Russia, he became a popular performer and composer: since 1804, he regularly gave concerts at the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, toured other cities of the empire. Field had many students, in particular, A. I. Dubuc (with whom Field, given his special talent, studied for free), M. I. Glinka, A. N. Verstovsky, A. I. Villuan, A. L. Gurilev etc
From 1822, Field lived in Moscow, moving among the Moscow musical bohemia; here he was called "Ivan Romanovich". Field was a frequent visitor to the then fashionable literary and art salons.
Grandiose🙏 Mon Dieu que c’est merveilleux 💓🌹
Du Frederick avant Chopin♥️
🎻👑👑🕯️🤎🥰♥️♥️♥️❤️
Delightful....brings me back to the Empire era described by Jane Austin....in "Pride & Prejudice in particular.
Chopin's Nocturnes are too dramatic and loud for night listening. I like this better.
Love these compositions! The 2nd nocturne is weirdly close to the Succession theme song
It's the evening, I just lit up two candles and am in heaven.
The creator of the first "Playlist to study/relax to" 100 years early!
I think this is the most relaxing set of pieces I've ever heard. It's quite remarkable.
Beautiful! But listening to this is completely destroyed by vile, intrusive, infuriating adverts! 😢
Gettin some serious Jane Austen vibes
Love Playlist <3
Love music <3
I heard this music after the war was started. For my soul it was like a medicine. Thank you.
Beautiful 😍❤️!
I Love Music from that period. So beautiful.
