I use this technique for years and works well. For portraits I use sometimes the expodisc to adjust the colours.

Can we use this technic to select and set a White and a black point ? Thank you.

you can also change the blending mode of the Color correction layer/ levels layer to Color so the only color will be affected

Horrible way to color grade, you are clearly an amateur....just stop.

There is a very simple method. Open your image in ACR and pick white balance tool. Instead of clicking on one point on photo, draw a rectangular area around the photo. Voila!

Hi Glyn. I have just ran through your tutorial in the photoshop summit. Thanks, it was very informative. However,there was one issue. In LRC my Mac only gives PS 2023 as an option for editing even though I have 2024 installed and have been using it. Any advice please? Thanks

That start to finish black & white you did for the PS Summit was 2nd to none. S2F is so educational, as there are so many 'lessons within a lesson'.

Hi Glyn, thanks for your great two PS Virtual Summit Lessons. They were really eye opening.
In one point I have some understanding problems. If I want to correct a colour shift, isn't it the point that I can chose an area which is not 50% grey in my photo but which should be in real, so that i can direct the middle tone picker to that area and Photoshop will shift the colours in the correct directions? But in that case the difference blend mode with the 50% grey layer wouldn't black out the relevant area as the target for the middle tone picker.

I saw this algorithm tip a while ago and couldn't remember where to find it again, do now thanks to your tutorial. Never knew it effected Curves as well, going to try this 50% technique in future, I'm sure it will bring the best in my photos. Thanks Glyn

Since I upgraded Photoshop to the latest version, when I select auto levels, auto tone and in the Auto Correction Option, the image turns completely white, why do I have this problem?

I‘ve been having doubt about the last method for a long time - I think the middle grey(or any grey which has equal red green and blue) it finds is already shifted by color tint, I mean, it looks like grey but actually it's not. So the result is not correct correspondingly.

On original image, WB is OFF. Than you chose a point that seems that is grey. But on real is it grey? You assume that is gray ...
