Im playing gen 1 and for the first time ive gotten semi-late game(ive got some fabricated stuff like thw pump and a scuba set) and i was thinking of trying to go to the volcano for the first time and get a magmasaur egg, then i read about the oviraptor and find out it has this ability, one bog excursion later and i have a pachysaur(the pachy trike with magic farts) a baryonix and an oviraptor then i went to bed so i will update you later today on how the magmasaur egg hunt went

Did you know the Oviraptors name was mistaken it means egg thief cuz a guy found a oviraptor head skeleton crushed next to a pile of eggs, and immediately thought that the oviraptor had tried to steal the eggs, so he name it the oviraptor everybody knew the mistake he had made, and soon later they find oviraptor bones lying on a next, to be told I think they thought that the oviraptor protect her eggs by sadly died, I’m pretty sure people say, oviraptors are very protective with their eggs, so the oviraptor wasn’t a egg thief after all, it would have maybe just eaten plants or insects ❤

I have a question when you said they must be on follow for the oviraptor to grab the egg. Did you have it on follow then whistle to the location to see if it would go get it and come back to you? I ask because I was on fjordur with regular raptors in the cave to get venom and I had them following me. And when ever I needed them to attack a seeker or something I would whistle them to that enemy while I followed behind being back up defense. But when they were done killing they would turn around and refollow me. So I would see if u didn’t try that.

Doesn't seem to show anything useful. all "stealing" was done when essentially in position it'd be easier to just pick up the egg manually. Originally this worked with them on wander, they'd bring you back eggs they wandered across, from this video it appears to be about useless these days.
