It's all well and good getting meds for withdrawal but addiction is a two fold illness...I know, I've done a jail detox. Without mental/spiritual help it is part of the course predominantly. Addiction sucks.

When people say withdrawals is like the flu, 🤦🏻‍♀️ that’s a lie! I’ve had the flu, and it’s nothing compared to withdrawals!! I mean nothing! Yes when you have the flu, you feel bad, but withdrawals is like being tortured alive. At least with the flu, you can lay down and just deal with, withdrawals your heart is racing you’re sweating profusely your muscles and bones ache, your stomach feels like hot coals being raked back and forth, almost like contractions. Thats just some of it. You can’t sleep, you have the 💩s it’s the most awful thing let me tell you. I’d take the flu any day of the week!

NOT compassionately/medically detoxing people is INCREDIBLY cruel, especially coming from the expert DOCTOR'S that won't or don't support it. THEY may not physically have experienced it but medically the know EXACTLY the agony it causes and their pledge is to "do no harm". Making a patient go cold turkey is mentally, physically and emotionally is EXTREMELY painful and they know this.

Good People doing 'Good Things ! Withrawels are cruel, and toture ! I'd rather take up arms on the battlefield's front line, than to be made to withdrawel! Our system is more concerned with "controlling people's lives", rather than helping a torchard soal !

I’m starting my detox tomorrow. Started snorting real perc 30s daily then turned into 10-15 fake perc 30s a day. Then started snorting heroin/fent 2 years ago. Spending $1000 a week on that crap. It controls my life. It’s the worst thing you could ever put yourself through. I pray I make it out and I pray that whoever is in my situation gets through it aswell💙 love all 💙

Dr's should be held responsible for getting us on opiates, then take it away then we're forced to go to heroin so we're so sick. Suboxone should be in every jail. Dr's ruined my life, suboxone saved it. I hold Dr's 100 % for the heroin and fent epidemic

What about methadone? That's the worst of them! Or what about barbituate withdrawal? What do you do for that? However, if they would give suboxone in jail that would be a game changer. There is zero reason someone should have to cold turkey detox from anything against their will without treatment of any kind.

I started Opiods thanks to the VA quacks. After 20 yrs Trump told the VA no more Norcos. I was using 100’s a month. So I go on the streets of LA to get my fix. 1 pill $20. I used 4-10/day. Every morning you are either getting cash or buying pills. I’m 72 and Still an Addict. Don’t Start. If you are an addict STOP. Don’t be me, Old, broke, sick. And the pills today, fentanyl is crap!

It is inhumane to let addicts go through withdrawals in jail. I believe they should be medicated while detoxing. People can die from withdrawals.

I remember one of my old best friends was an addict and she once said to me and I quote “I could never give this up because it’s too hard” to that i replied and truly believe that it would be so much harder going through this again and again, stoping would be the easiest way out. Or you withdraw, start again, withdraw start again and on it goes and goes. Stoping once and for all would have to be the easier way out!!!

Pharma companies like the sackler family should be systematically taken apart financially, every last dime and put towards this nation wide epidemic. They built a fortune like never seen on destroying our country with crippling addiction, and did with knowing malice.

If I owned a rehab. I would make it a 3 month inpatient. On one side you have ppl weaning off based off what their levels of DOC is... and taper fast with some great comfort meds. Then... when they are 80% less in blood volume of the drug.... I'll slowly begin with the comfort meds (10 of them) and then peak it on day 4.... (Day 45 in rehab) on day 10 slowly taper them off the comfort meds faster then a drug taper.... keep them on clonidine and gabapentin for a few more days and stop that slowly with CBT AND DBT Therapy /massages and just great natural ways to boost adrenaline.

They should really have help in all jails for any kind of detox because detoxing can be deadly, especially alcohol. 5- 10 days in detox on meds in jail is what it should be and the person going thru detox shouldn't be out with others either While going thru that detox. Also, if a person has to be on detox meds longer then they should be called and brought to another room, the meds given to them by the nurse and then they sit there until the meds are devolved or just give the injection for detox and don't worry with any pills or strips. The meds given in jail aren't watched closely enough when being given to the person, any meds for that matter.

I can tell that old white woman is a c*nt, probably worked non-profit and has a completely backwards view on drug addiction. Also withdrawals are nothing like the flu unless your on really low doses, it’s about 100 times worse and last a a lot lot longer, at least in my experience. But hope everyone’s doing well and is sober or living there best life!

Everytime I've ever been to jail I've had to kick in there. Since the first time I went to jail when I was 18. I would say that's one of the absolute worst environments to withdrawal. It's better than being homeless and withdrawing on the street though. I'm traumatized from that horrible feeling.

The woman running the jail needs to be replaced. She had nothing to say except excuses and finger pointing in all directions, but could not show that she took accountability for her own misgivings. All of the women in that system will suffer and some will die as a result of that level of incompetence. It's disgusting.

Snohomish county Washington Had No methadone treatment facilities. So patients from neighboring counties were denied in their jail. People who found themselves in Snohomish jail went thru horrific withdrawal Where tey became far too ill to even keep their in jail court dates. This extended their incarceration considerably. A serious month of hard withdrawal can cause PTSD along with other life threatening ailments.
