Knew most facts in this video, didn’t know I was that much of a watch nerd 🤦♂️😆
ОтветитьYes.... what strap did James Bond have ob his Rolex Submariner watch? Any idea?
ОтветитьHating Rolex is about as original as loving Rolex. It is an exceptional brand in all ways, so I choose to love it.
ОтветитьI love how you have a cow lick like a 5 year old.
ОтветитьWas the COMIX variant the only Submariner to have a helium valve? DId they ever add them to Submariners made e.g. after 2000??
I think THe Sub is highly overrated and well marketd. Helped by Rolex making them un-officially LTED ED....allegedly hard to get in the USA. Not hard it seems...to get in Canada.
No anti-reflective coating ?? for a watch costing $10k plus USD and From 419k CAD it leaves a lot to be desigred. Wches costing so much less offering so much more (minus the high resale value)..
The Rolex Sea Sweller has a helium valve :) but still no anti-reflective coating...guess they figure ony "serious saturation divers would buy the watch. Guys that really dive and live in tanks in the sea...
Yeah, I also think Rolex is way overpriced, overrated
Ответитьits like B. Cumberbatch talking about the Rolex Sub :)
Ответить1:The strap will break and watch will fall off and get lost if you go wild swimming. The solution to this is replace it with an ugly, hair pulling strap from a Vostok Amphibia, they don't break.
2. They are as waterproof as a Vostok Amphibia as long as you don't open them up yourself. A Vostok Amphibia can be opened and regulated yourself. You will probably need to do this if you require Rolex levels of accuracy.
3. Unlike Vostok Amphibia crystals Rolex crystals are hard to scratch, they do however shatter. Vostok Amphibia crystals scratch and tolerate sharp impacts but don't shatter till about 13 atmospheres of pressure.
4 Rolex submariners are as shockproof as Vostok Amphibias.
5. Rolex submariners are as reliable as Vostok Amphibias.
6. The quality control on Rolex submariners is superb whilst that on Vostok Amphibias is not, good ones are very good bad ones are terrible.
7. You can tell a fake Rolex by placing the watch in a pot of boiling water for ten minutes with a Vostok Amphibia. If only the Vostok is still working after this treatment it isn't a real Rolex. You will need to regulate the Vostok again afterwards, the Rolex you will not.
8. The recommended service interval on a Vostok Amphibia is ten years, a Rolex submariner will last longer before needing a service unless you drop it, the Rolex will still work but will need to be regulated again like the Vostok.
9. The Rolex Submariner is not only a fine piece of jewelry but a superb tool watch, the Vostok is just a superb tool watch.
10. It is extremely unlikely you will be hit over the head with a club , shot or stabbed by a criminal in order for your Vostok Amphibia to be stolen
Wearing a Rolex carries a very large risk premium.
Could you bring up a source that supports your statement that 904L is softer than 316L? I was also trying to get that information and I started comparing the spec sheets of 316L and 904L of the biggest steel producers around like Baowu, ArcelorMittal, Nippon Steel Corp, revealing that the hardness is +/- the same. Feel free to correct me if im wrong, a scientific source would be much appreciated
ОтветитьListening to your narration for so long makes it hard to put a face to the voice, but glad you’re now in front of the camera!
ОтветитьIt's a masochist brand. Rolex treats their customers like shit and that makes them want it even more.
ОтветитьThe watch inflation is ridiculous... obviously I do not expect to buy Submariner for $1,200... that is if Rolex would even sell me one, but $10,000 price tag is also stupid.
I think realistic price for comparable Rolex and Omega should be ~$2,500-4,000... and the rest is just false scarcity the Rolex has created. Omega is overpriced as well, but at least you can buy their watches, but the reason Omega can charge $8,000 is just because Rolex artificially crated false scarcity and this Omega almost looks cheap considering their quality is the same if not even better.
I have one from the 90’s I believe
ОтветитьApart from the deep sea (the one made for james cameron's deepsea challenger mission) everything else rolex made is a shitty way to spend your money imo.
I would rather pay same money or less for a JLE.
Interesting that you keep referring to the Submariner while showing the Submariner Date....
ОтветитьNice video I learned a lot. Are you sure about the figures of « few hundreds to 1200$ today compared to ten times the actual price of today? »
If it was 300$ in the 50’s it is maybe for than 4 times the price today?
So the US Navy failed it for water tightness? Did Rolex fix this?
ОтветитьSubmariner and Sea dweller are those watches that I own just to “tick the box” without any love or hate, just nothing, no feeling whatsoever.
Unlike JLC, PP or VC, they are full of passion for me.
Good one ❤. Good voice too this is what make a difference between a fat boots licker of rolly YTuber 😊
ОтветитьI always wanted a Rolex Submariner because Sean Connery wore one in a James Bond film. Now I wonder why I want to be James Bond. Am I a narcissist?.
ОтветитьYour voice doesn't match your face. Weird seeing you.
ОтветитьI can almost guarantee that a timex and casio have been into space at least once each.
Pretty sure a Seiko has been to the moon?
I'm sure its a great watch, but I cant stand the rolex brand and sadly what as become of the following they have. Burberry of the watch world.
ОтветитьOld format better.
ОтветитьTalking about Rolex but not bashing it senselessly...? am I even on watchfinder?
ОтветитьI would love to hear more about Blancpain's dive watch history.
ОтветитьThe only issue with Rolex is they’re a customer service nightmare. In Canada they sell multiple watches to the same few buyers whether they ask for them or not, while selling none to everyone else. One Chinese real estate agent in my group gets a new Rolex every month from his AD while everyone else waits. It’s gross.
ОтветитьI owned a Rolex submariner for 50 years. One thing you didn't mention was staring you right in the face. The submariners sold in Europe in those days, stated meters first and feet second on the face. The ones sold to North America were in feet first, meters second. My watch was about a 1968 or 1969 model, as I purchased it in 1970. What made my watch unusual for the Canadian market, that it was a "meters first" watch. The dial read " 200 m or 660 ft. It had a mat black bezel, not a ceramic one. The dial had no metal rings around the numbers, just faded light dots, that were originally a faint green. Rolex repainted them to the white markers when I sent it to them for a routine cleaning. It also had no date. My model was not a chronograph. The date was only available in the chronograph models. I sold it a few years ago for some stupid reason. I have regretted parting with it ever since. Although it had been through a very rough life with me, it never had a scratch on it. The crystal would scratch, as it was a hexalite type, but I simply polished out any scratches with a metal polish. On the last routine service, Rolex classified it as a vintage watch. Moral of the story, if you have a submariner and are thinking a selling it, place it on your dresser for 6 months. If you still want to sell after that time, do so. I bet you will wear it again before six months has passed and you will be thankful you never sold it. If some gave me that advice, I would have never sold mine.
ОтветитьRolex is a true Tool watch
ОтветитьDo more iconic watches along this content line, please.
ОтветитьBecause the Sub has been so heavily copied, I find them boring these days. There are so many more interesting options available for 1/2 the price or less. I wouldn’t ever buy a Submariner, or any Rolex really. They’re just hype, imo.
ОтветитьThe price relative to inflation is heartbreaking. If I could get a Sub for $1200 I’d own ten of them 😂
ОтветитьPlease do the Breitling Navitimer next. It was my favorite watch before I cared about watches.
ОтветитьRolex is so over rated
Ответить10 facts about Rolex I have no interest in.
ОтветитьI picture this exact situation to happen at your summer party: Andrew chatting with random guest „…And that‘s why Rolex has to be in every video title…“ random guys’ eyes fixed on Andrew‘s hands „…hey, my eyes are up here!“
ОтветитьI would like to hear about yacht master
ОтветитьI picked up a Cronos V2 Submariner Homage. I love it! I would highly recommend to anyone searching for the next best thing to a Rolex Sub.
ОтветитьThe hands and the voice and the outstanding videography is really what your channel is about.
It should stay like that and please don’t show your face into the camera all the time. It destroys what it was before. ☹️
Thank you for the truth
ОтветитьLoved this! How about you start a series of those less known facts .. no one does it better than you Andrew
ОтветитьHis voice is just perfect for reviews
ОтветитьIt's weird. As a teen, I hated Rolex so much, especially the ones with cyclops. I thought they looked too "old-fashioned." In my late 20s and early 30s, I still felt that Rolex was boring compared to brands like Omega. However, in my late 30s, I began to adore Rolex. They just make sense. They are nothing fancy, but timeless pieces that will never go out of fashion. You can wear them anywhere and for any occasion. They are practical. Maybe Rolex is just meant for people in my age group. Enough ranting.
ОтветитьWrong; there’s just as much misinformation as there are facts in this video. The first Rolex with a rotating bezel was the Zerographe, and it predates the Fifty Fathoms by 16 years — granted it didn’t have dive markers, but they certainly didn’t steal the idea of a rotating bezel from the Fifty Fathoms…they had one first; the Blancpain innovation was the locking bezel, not the rotating bezel. The Turnographe is the direct predecessor to the Submariner and before the launch of the Sub, much of the DNA was already established by the Zerographe, long before the FF was even a concept. Regarding luminous dials, Rolex was already designing dive watches for Panerai that featured luminous markers as far back as 1936, long before Blancpain implemented it in the FF…Panerai still uses those Rolex designs to this day (now there’s an actual fact worth sharing). The Rolex Zerographe ALSO featured a large “clear luminous dial” 16 years before the Fifty Fathoms. Truth is that there are a number of possibilities or explanations for the similarities between the two watches that could go either way and only the people “in the room” at that time know exactly why; the rest is conjecture. While it’s debatable that it may have taken inspiration from the dive markers on the FF, to call it a ‘copy’ is disingenuous at best and unsurprisingly in line with this channel’s descent into mediocrity since the Richemont acquisition.
People, if you actually want to learn, there’s far better channels out there that aren’t prioritizing clickbait over facts.
and before Bond had a Rolex he had a Gruen
ОтветитьI found it interesting that the sub basically went straight from acrylic to sapphire.
ОтветитьIs there a huge voice edit that puts it out of sync or am I imganing
ОтветитьWell, if Rolex is going to be so stingy and narcissistic about their product, so I will be about their product never entering my collection. I don't have time for their BS. 😂
Ответить
