In Monsters Inc, both Mike and Sulley are the main characters. It's a buddy movie, same amount of screen time . In Monsters Inc, Mike is indeed the main character in that movie. (source, I watch too many damn Pixar movies)

As for Aladdin, Aladdin is the main character as his name being the literal title. Princess Jasmine is his love interest so she's not a main characters, she's more of a major supporting character. (source: I watch too many damn Disney movies)

3 minutes in, I love it. That answer suits them so well. Just soak in that first 7 minutes, he cannot believe the chaos that is his chat. Monsters University exists, that is a spin-off with Mike as the main character. 13 minutes in I can't believe him, it's as if he has no interest / has seen movies. It's so weird. At points it feels like a bit, it's just too unreal. Even cultural osmosis would have to tell you some of these things, assuming he's been in America since the early 90s.
