What if I'm not in school anymore?
Ответитьcollege is taking to long to finish ...
ОтветитьThis is I think the most real video with actual problem and solution on one of the most important problem going in the world....Thankyou bro.
ОтветитьWhile many great points are made, I must emphatically disagree with the comment that you shouldn’t fight the idea of school being about grades. As a teacher, I constantly find was to fight and encourage students to fight this concept. We all know we shouldn’t be reduced to data and numbers. How is that ever going to change if no one fights against it? Accept it? No way! Make changes.
ОтветитьWhat’s up with that so-called illuminati sign your doing? Circling your eye?
ОтветитьMOST inspiring video I've lost the love for learning
ОтветитьReally well put. You've taken time in understanding what really is going on here. Thanks!
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьQuite honestly, I’ve been looking for this EXACT video for months now. I’ve been having these exact ideas, and have needed the motivation to pursue them, and the hope that it worked for someone else. Honestly, thank you so much, one of the most useful videos I’ve watched in my life.
ОтветитьMy problem is not about school learning it's about learning my hobbies and things that interest me I ran out of curiosity and got anheodnic about my own hobbies even if I pursue what I am interested in in the school
ОтветитьSchool is all about complying with enslaving matrix and being given points according to the degree of compliance. It doesn't tell us that learning is fun, something that is internally beautiful. The classrooms are the killing fields of the human spirit. They are nothing more than prisons of the soul. The student shall be viewed as a torch to be lighted rather than an object to be controlled. School is about imposition rather than enlightenment. Compliance rather than curiosity. Obligation rather than play. This is why school fosters mediocrity rather than enthusiasm and the adulthood of the mind.
ОтветитьRobin said it right
ОтветитьLuckily for me, I go to a school in which I am not a number. My professors know my name and mostly respond to my emails within hours
ОтветитьI thought I'd never here this how I thought /graduated in 78 night school / was tossed out senior year for something stupid /thats how it was back then/ night school was better anyways///
Ответитьthe escapism argument got me.
ОтветитьJust remembered that I hated foreign languages and thought I could never speak one about 4 years ago. I had horrible grades, from all the years of studying English in school I only knew like 20-30 words and couldn't say or understand shit. Now I speak two foreign languages and I'm so passionate about learning more and more. I also absolutely love reading, have loved it since I was a kid, but I've only read one book from the school curriculum. If I hadn't started reading before school, I'm afraid I would think I hate reading right now. How fucked up is the fact that the place that is supposed to make us want to learn makes us loathe it? I'm on my way to become a teacher, hope I won't become part of the problem. The question is how if I will have to work within the system
ОтветитьThank you for this!
And please, never ever wonder if you're shouting into the wind. You are not sir.
You're a philosopher of our Time.
A suggestion/request - I'd love to hear you 'waffle' on about any subject, à la Alan Watts-style lectures. I.e. a much longer discourse & treatment of pretty-much all of those subjects you currently treat in shorter form.
very brilliant speech
ОтветитьQuestion here! I understand exactly what you are talking about, but even when I don’t go to school I start to read a book and I feel exhausted and bored the next minute. How do I revive my curiosity exactly? Are there other methods of reviving my curiosity? For example I love when my dad tells me about history, but in school or when self-educating It becomes a subject I hate and get bored of. Should I maybe lock myself in a room without entertainment? Also I’d love a video on how to self-educate, because as you said in school they don’t teach you that and I don’t know how to do it.
ОтветитьI wish i had watched this video before i entered the uni.
ОтветитьAs if I have any time or mental space to do any of this
That's what being in the most difficult school and college in my country does ig
I completely agree with you
ОтветитьI've been stuck in this cycle of avoiding homework and studies as a whole and it's been eating at me for months because I couldn't pull up the motivation to actually do stuff. Your video is exactly what i needed to hear, seeing someone addressing these problems as they are and presenting a balanced suggestion really helped me a lot. I think I might be able to reach the goals I set for myself today. Thank you.
ОтветитьAwesome advice! But I just wanna attain knowledge! Like know something of everything heeh
Ответитьmodern polymath - you really sound like one. i found your channel just some days ago & it combines so many topics dear to me. your videos truly help in my exam season right now! this video is especially reminding & motivating
ОтветитьI feel like school is trying to make me build 12 skyscrapers when all I want to do it cultivate a beautiful city
ОтветитьThis was very honest and it felt real. Actually I must thank you to motivate me without any fantasy shit that is so commonly passed by anyone.
ОтветитьWho introduced spiral dynamics to you?
ОтветитьI'm lucky enough to never have to work hard for good grades or to get the smart kid reputation, leaving me more time for sleep and my passion, but once the pandemic started, I was stuck at home, I had way too much time on my hands, I didn't put even a drop of half assed effort for school cause nobody was stopping me, what are the teachers gonna do about me not passing schoolwork, send me home?
Anyway since it's face to face classes now, my grades are doing better, but because we are not required to attend classes on thursdays and fridays anymore, THEY FUCKING ADDED MORE TIME TO CLASSES. We have to be at school at around 6:30am, and we leave at 4:20pm, OH AND THERE'S STILL ASSIGNMENTS AND SCHOOLWORKS!!! I ALREADY GET HOME DRAINED ENOUGH!! AND I STILL HAVE TO DO HOMEWORK.
Add that with my lazy ass thanks to the lack of having to develop a good work ethic, I don't have time to self study on my passions (the piano, programming, gaming) and not enough sleep anymore.
I am slowly slipping into a spiral of being endlessly tired, this shit is not sustainable, school is slowly becoming my life and its not fun, my freetime is now a catching up on sleep time. Fuck this shit.
self-education is all well and good until you're stuck. that's particularly true for hard sciences. you have to have a tutor who would take a personal approach and explain you things in a way that you would be able to understand. it's true, though, that it doesn't necessarily mean that the tutoring in question has to be obtained at official university or any other facility of that sort, but then you'll have to develop some bitch-ass skills at constructing a structure of learning with the subject you have no prior experience with, which personally for me is impossible. it's not enough to wake up one day and decide, hey, I want to know how to solve differential equations and be done with it; you gotta start with function basics, but someone has to be there to tell you where you are supposed to start
ОтветитьI am at least 20 years your senior, and I must say you are truly an inspiration. The information you share has helped me to realize that I am an autodidact and a polymath, honestly terms I was unaware of until watching your videos. At 40 years old I scored very high percentages on being an introverted intuitive, two more terms I was unaware of, and I have been studying ever since. One hell of a wake-up call, but your information helps me through it.
Thank you!
Embracing my weirdness. 😊
Time To Learn
Sep 13th 2022 😌
I don't even understand the title of this video. How can one not enjoy learning? haha :) But good point anyay.
ОтветитьI'm really enjoying learning and researching for my fanfic (about Felix Yusupov) and not just about him, but also everything from morally motivated violence to history of queer anarchism to gay slang in Russia. But my biology studies in university? Nope, barely manage to force myself. ADHD is weird.
ОтветитьThank you I needed it this time
ОтветитьHe took the words out of my head and rephrased it for me. This is the best. Thank you.
ОтветитьI find it very interesting that schools value scientific information so much, but contradictorily do not follow it when it comes to teaching. There are several types of study methods and we all know that what works for one person doesn't work for everyone in the same way. And yet, we follow a "herd" education.
And that's not even the only problem. In my country (underdeveloped) no matter how hard we try or how much we sacrifice time and mental health to get good grades, in the end you still can't get into a university directly because there aren't enough places and someone always has more money and got a better education. It takes many years to get in, and when you do, there's no way to support yourself financially.
i dont know how you can read foucault and nietzsche and say that the education system cant be criticized or destroyed. L
ОтветитьThat is a powerful and eloquent video essay over here gentleman!
Ответитьthe fact that this is barely edited is impressive
ОтветитьLet's be honest, the idea that your education is the responsibility of university is flat out wrong. We like to have the comforting belief that we can get all from one place. Don't fall for a false promise you've created out of wishful thinking.
ОтветитьI had a holiday for 10 days one time while the school year was still at the beginning and what I realized is that in those 10 days I have read more school subjects by myself than I would normally do in more than a month but now I have returned to school and I can barely read a little, you know it is funny how the thing both my parents and school warned me about has helped me do in less than a year what school failed to do in more than 12 years.
Ответитьim watching this while enjoying learning so that i could use this knowledge to use in the future when i don't enjoy learning
ОтветитьLove this guy already Xd
ОтветитьOff topic, but from where di you get your curtain?
Ответитьso basically, do it by yourself. Great :D
