Globe4D gx1000 - interactive projection globe

Globe 4D is an interactive installation for immersive globe viewing. It allows people to learn and communicate about different phenomena on earth and other planets and see how these have changed over time.

Interactive visualizations on a physical sphere can be turned and viewed from all angles. Topics range from continental drift to changing seasons and from natural disasters to airplane routes.

The globe in this video is the Globe4D gx1000 model - composed of a 930mm high cylinder and a 950mm IR user multi-touch interactive sphere using internal projection.

"It's an acrylic hemisphere with Screen Goo Rear Projection Coating on the inside lit by an Epson WUXGA projector with rear projection lens. The maps are rendered in real-time using a shader on the graphics card. It's an interactive model where the user can influence the amount of water on earth."
