As a newcomer to coin collecting, I found this video very informative and easy to understand. Great video! The only thing that would make it better is to add an explanation to your comment at the end that said, “It looks like this would be a candidate for PCGS.” As someone who has never submitted a coin for grading/authentication, etc. - What price range would make a coin a candidate for PCGS?

Would be cool if you can get other states to qualify as a PCGS grading location to make it much easier for everyday walk-ins. Me personally I don't trust the mail system so guess i'll never make it to a slab!

This is a fail. Grading coins is based solely on your subjective sense. Trying to implement an objective goal to it is a total failure.

Loved this Video and the website, Question ?? I compared my 1957 Franklin Half dollar to your photo guide and mine is like 10 times better than your MS68 How high does the scale go? cause mine is better than your example and your price guide doesnt have anything higher than 67 on the prices either???

Photograde seems nothing more than a marketing ploy to me. Why?

Grading coins is determining the AMOUNT of "damage" that keeps the coin at/below/or above a certain grade.

Every coin is different.

So (for example) each MS64 Morgan dollar has different reasons as to why its not MS65 or higher.

Human nature dictates everyone wants to believe their coin is a higher grade (hence worth more).

Photograde gives No EXPLANATIONS whatsoever as to SPECIFICALLY why, for example, the pic of their MS62 Morgan did not make MS63.

So, of course, since human nature means people want to believe their coin is "the higher" grade and worthy of PCGS slabbing, PCGS gets more business from people using photograde.

Sometimes, like with photograde Kennedy halves, the picture is of a coin with such heavy toning the the reason(s) the coin is not a higher grade is totally camouflaged by coloring!

PCGS - please prove me wrong by making Photograqde actually useful.

This "service" is also like your money-back guarantee for most instances. By the time the individual pays for shipping etc., the money they spend to get things corrected is not worth the trouble. In other words the customer ends up putting out even more money to take advantage of the "guarantee." But then... PCGS is well aware of this.
