My mother and I used to make these 30/40 years ago. It was the very first recipe she taught me to make... I was an itty-bitty thing at the time... we used to call it "tuna'r chop." But we used a slightly different method and used potatoes mashed in to the mix and shaped them into oblong balls. And instead of bell peppers, we used mashed peas, cut up raisins, and a few chopped green chilies. I like your recipe bc I'm a diabetic and I don't want to use the potato. These look delicious! I will try it and feed mom. She's now 85 and can't eat much these days, but I'm sure she will love these!

So sad I didn’t have tomatoes, a purple onion, or cilantro, but I had made a batch of salsa roja, having used the aforementioned things in it, so I added about a 1/2 cup instead and they turned out delicious. Thanks for the post. I also had leftover tuna steaks. Win-win. Thanks again.

I made them... but:
I SHAPED them first into patties and freeze them just to keep their shapes. ( otherwise it gets messy coating th on eggs and bread crumbs)
Once they’re quite solid ( not frozen!) dipped them in eggs and bread crumbs. Cooked and...
