Fantastic stuff.
Ответитьanyone here know if there’s a workflow (i.e. order of operations) for fairlight?
for example, like resolve's "image processing order of operations" for color?
-colton 🤟🏼
If there is a conversation between say ,two people , one sounds really bad. how would you go about that
ОтветитьThis was so beautifully explained. Thankyou so much for the video!!
ОтветитьBest video in this I've found!!! But only found after the project! Thanks though. Will use next time.
ОтветитьThanks a lot for this video! Just fixed the audio problems I've been struggling with using your video. I'm still getting used to resolve, so this was very helpful!
ОтветитьPerfect! Thank you!
ОтветитьThank-you for this helpful tutorial. I found it much better than other tutorials since I understood the process better and it had great content for the length. One question I have is, just say I go through the whole process of editing a track in the manner you show, but there is one small section of that track which has a mouth saliva sound? This is a video with a person speaking not a voiceover. How would you fix this small section?
ОтветитьWhen you were in college did your professors play music in the class room? Since you are trying to teach us something WHY do you have music in the background? If you were riding a bike or flying a drone or even driving in a car the background music WILL be ok but NOT when you are trying to teach something. IT IS VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!!!
ОтветитьUseful video, thanks. One small point: general guidance on EQ is “boost wide and cut narrow”. Cutting wide makes the sound less natural.
ОтветитьVery helpful Jay. I learned a lot from this video. Wonderful job.
I’m just learning about the different audio tools (e.g., compressor, EQ). This video was very helpful by explaining how the tools can help. Thanks for putting the time into the video for us.
Very helpful tip and walk through. I had no clue what i was looking for in my voice over to know what to cut out. thanks
ОтветитьDo you normalize your dialogue audio after the compressor or before?
Ответитьok I just have the free version, how do I reduce the volume in a 2nd track, I am doing a let's play and added in royalty free music but it's not audio balanced, and I want it at like 40% volume.
ОтветитьThanks man!
ОтветитьThis is great, but I feel like I will always struggle with audio because I often can't hear the differences other people do. I can with most of what you are explaining here, but I have watched videos where they make adjustments to eliminate fan noise or something and when listening to the original clip (even with expensive headphones) I'm like, "What fan noise?!" It's not that I have significant hearing loss or anything, I just seem to not hear certain frequencies as well as others do. For me, as long as the volume is normalized and it doesn't have that tin can sound or an echo, it's fine. Knowing that other people are more critical than that is totally understandable but frustrating.
ОтветитьHey Jay, I was using resolve today, and doing some Fairlight work editing a video conference recording. I didn't have an M1 (Master bus). Do you know why this is, as I would have expected it to be there.
ОтветитьNewb question here. Can you use more than one effect in the Mixer section in Fairlight free version of Davinci Resolve 17? I can only use EQ or Dynamics but not at the same time. Is this a limitation of the Free version?
ОтветитьWhat if you’re editing a feature and have A LOT of different dialogue clips? Do you have to do this process to each individual clip one at a time, or is this something you apply to an entire track in the timeline? And are you supposed to do this before any editing begins?
ОтветитьThis is not editing !
ОтветитьMy experience is -3DB is used the most. Otherwise you risk some clipping
ОтветитьFirst time editing of a student film and struggling with audio - do you have a tutorial using multiple clips, particularly for a dialogue scene? I can get one clip alright thanks to your video(much appreciated!), then when it cuts back to the other person speaking (separate clips due to different angles) there is an obvious audio change. Help!
ОтветитьJay always solid man got me moving over from audacity to fairlight to clean my audio up!
ОтветитьHave I or has anyone every asked you about the solid color generator glitching when you render a project? I almost lost my dang mind the other day. After hours of searching I figured out a work around. I do not make tech videos, but I thought your audience may be able to benefit from what I found. 🤷♂️👊🏻🤪❤️
ОтветитьSome of this is kind of what I was asking in the live stream yesterday so thanks! Wish I knew what all of these little knobs meant though like q factor and stuff, need to figure that out, lol. Very helpful vid!
ОтветитьGreat tutorial. I think it's especially important to make these adjustments when you don't have the best of microphones.
ОтветитьMaybe I'm just a complete audio noob with a rubbish headset, but I legit can't hear any difference between the track when you have the EQ on vs EQ off. The same happens when I try to EQ the audio in my own videos, I can't tell any difference unless I go to the absolute extremes with the EQ and then it just sounds awful.
ОтветитьWOW! so many infomations thank you
ОтветитьYa it’s still laggy I need help it sounds horrible
ОтветитьMy audio is laggy and sounds like a robot any tips
Ответитьthis got 0 dislike
ОтветитьThank you very much for all the tutorials you make! I struggled editing audio in Resolve for a while but, thanks to you, now it's a pleasure.
Ответитьyour videos are really helpfull thanks to share! great channel!! ;)
ОтветитьHey man, I appreciate your videos they have been really helpful. Do you have any suggestions for how to cut audio from different takes? (Let me explain). You do a wide shot, lets say a 2 min clip of 2 people sitting down at a table. Then there are quick cuts of each person sitting down saying "hello..(cut) ." " Hey...hows it going" (cut)...and now you have 3 audio tracks. One...the wide shot...2, the one person sitting down...then 3, the third person. Then you continue to cut the scene as you would want it to play out.....my question and problem I'm having is, trying to sync up the audio to match each cut. I know how to "align audio with footage by waveform" that's all taken care of. Im new to Davinci Resolve, I'm sure there is a way around this. I couldn't imagine its as complicated as it is for me right now. Hope this wasn't too confusing thanks again for your videos.
ОтветитьWhen your compressionratio is 2 to 1 wirh 3 db reduction then your make-up gain should be 1.5db not 3db
ОтветитьJust to clarify. In the sound reduction section of the video where you did the learn. I didn't see specifically how you told it to learn that second part of the clip? Was is specifically from the playhead starting with the room noise? Would that same concept work if you had put the room noise first and just played from the beginning?
ОтветитьHey, man. I haven't actually watched this video yet (but I have eagerly added it to "Watch later"!).
But I wanted to let you know that I had a big project go live last week. It was by far the most ambitious editing job I've ever done and I could NEVER have done it without your tutelage. I'm all new to Davinci Resolve, but your videos (and a few others!) showed me EVERYTHING I need to empower my creativity. THANK YOU!
I'd love to show you the project. It's short and it is legitimately fun. I know you will see a lot of yourself and your techniques in it! But I'm not allowed to post it publicly. Is there someplace where I can privately send you a link?
(PS - Enjoy your vacation!)
Oh hello! I have come here from Daniel Batal!
ОтветитьHow about leveling audio between people in like a Zoom conversation that's been recorded and may have different levels from each participant within the "remote interviewees" on the Zoom/Skype call? I am trying to balance the volume but with different audio sources within the Zoom/Skype call situation. Thoughts? Do you have a video about this sort of scenario?
ОтветитьI uploaded a video yesterday. I have just followed your tutorial today using same audio from yesterday’s video and there is big difference in quality. I need to invest in a bit of soundproofing as there is still some echo but my voice is more refined and the whole track sounds more professional. Great tutorial, thanks.
ОтветитьThanks for this tutorial, man! I've been focusing more into learning the edit and color tabs, but it's great to start getting more familiar with Fairlight too! Looking forward to more audio tutorials!
ОтветитьHello Jay good afternoon from a very hot South African.. I would like to ask if I can do something completely different by shrinking myself ( I shru nk myself) eg standing next to a car or a cetle. I would like to do a small comedy with my clone. Thank you. Please help. Regardless.
ОтветитьFairlight plugins in Resolve are 1st class! What's also cool about Resolve is the ability to point it to an audio plugin folder and use your other faves (I have tons, being a muso). I make music videos mostly, so all my audio is mixed and mastered and imported. When I do dialogue vids tho, I rely on the Fairlight plugins (unless I mix in Ableton 1st) These native plugins are the bomb!
ОтветитьHi Jay I am a little confused. You seemed to switch on learn then play the dialogue. Should you not have played the room atmosphere for it to learn from then apply this to the dialogue or am I having a moment.
ОтветитьDear Jay, forgive my poor English. I would like to thank you for this great tutorial. Thanks to your contribution I was able to understand how to proceed in managing the dialogues
Ответить🔥🔥🔥 J.!!! Keep these audio tips going thx man
ОтветитьI’ve been waiting for this for a long time!!! Thanks heaps for this video!
ОтветитьManual learn can change everything
