I can personally vouche for the mew one. However the coolest one you mentioned was getting to fight oak but you didn't tell us if there's a way to trigger it!

If that Mew glitch is real why didn't he explain it step by step on how to do it?

Yesterday i was playing red and blane kept using super potions when his pokemon had full hp. Never seen that happen.

One time I had a fresh Togepi. It SOMEHOW beat a level 40+ Graveler with Metronome. Leveled up and Togepi evolved at level 16 😂

Toxic and leech seed use the same damage table in the old games so if both are applied the amount leech seed does and heals will increase as the toxic damage increases

It's bitter-sweet to know that there actually was an exploit to get mew. There were so many rumours and myths at the time (I was 9-10 when playing this). One time my sister and I started a new game, didn't obtain cut from the S.S.Anne, didn't do the vermillion city gym so we couldn't use flash, went all the way through rock tunnel in the dark, then when we obtained surf we went back to the S.S. Anne and surfed around it - as we'd been told that you could find a mew there. (Spoiler: NUP!!!) Haha. My friend had a level 200+ Mewtwo she got from a friend who obtained it from some glitch, never found out how. She used it in battle against me and I got mad coz I was like "hey that's unfair!!" (When the only level 200+ pokemon you're able to get on the side of Cinnabar Island are Snorlaxes and Golbats!)

All that time as a kid looking for mew at that darn truck by the SS anne and I could have actually had one... Just with a different glitch. Riiiiip.

this is an amazing list, especially the secret island!

i'm a bit so-so on glitches, but multiplying masterballs and candies is just overall a great thing to have, especially with limited space and money due to no rebattles except the elite 4. this would also solve the issue of having so few pp-ups, elixirs and ethers availble, heck even ice beams. evolving pokemon that need moon stones is probably the most critical here though bc there are only 2 available.

the battle with the prof seems a bit lame, though, barely any different from the rival. i like the choice of tauros and the last remaining starter, but it needed to remain that strong and underrepresented in the game. so not arcanine, exeggutor and gyarados but like golem for being the only trade evolution that isnt represented in the elite 4 and champ battles. one of the eeveelutions like flareon or jolteon at least. starmie is already misty's signature pokemon, so he'll have to either take tentacruel or poliwrath as his strong water sweeper. pinsir is almost not represented at all, so that one MUST be part of his team, snorlax is already kind of a miniboss or wall in the game, so it had its time to shine in every playthrough. ninetales also criminally underrepresented (can be explained with its awful movepool and which moves npc's get). he cant have any of the legendaries we already caught, but if he's a pokemon scientist and i can go catch a mewtwo later on, i fully expect him to have a mew himself. and to give it to me once i have at least 100 pokemon or so.
or we can fully lean into him not necessarily being better than the champ, but as a prof he sure must be some big nerd, so he'd probably pick porygon, ditto, lickitung, the fossil you didnt pick (omastar/kabutops) and ofc the starter that beats gary's and the eeeveelution that beats your starter. but let's be real, that'd result in a hilariously bad battle due to enemies only having access to the last 4 attacks the pokemon has naturally learnt up till that level. so without adding some better ai this is pointless to talk about.
if we suspend our disbelief, we could entirely at least imagine what the prof would come into battle with.

eg if he had charizard, he'd take fire blast, earthquake, hyperbeam and fly (yellow) for a great starter
then if he had jolteon, it'd be super restrictive, so aside from thunder you'd probably have to go with toxic/double team/sand attack
if he had blastoise, he'd take hydropump, blizzard, earthquake and submission for another great starter
then if he had flareon, he'd take fire blast, hyperbeam and due to move constraints reflect and rest to make it well rounded
if he had venusaur, then maybe it could stall like crazy, that seems pretty nerdy to me. so that'd be sleep powder, leech seed, rest and double team along with a bunch of items ofc.
then if he had vaporeon, it'd be more aggressive, but could still rest along with hydropump, blizzard and obligatory hyperbeam
and he'd pick the exact same moves with omastar
with kabutops he'd probably be almost the same but with the lacking defences it'd have submission instead of rest
porygon with its terrible stats gets excellent moves with thunderbolt, blizzard, psychic and hyperbeam
lickitung has lots of attacks to pick, so here i'd once again check which starter you took and depending on that he'd either have fire blast and blizzard vs venusaur or thunder and surf vs charizard or thunder and toxic vs blastoise. he'd always have earthquake and hyperbeam.
mew in gen 1 barely gets anything at all to learn, so you'd be stuck with psychic, mega punch, metronome and transform as soon as you see a useful enemy lol

Anyone ever try fighting Giovanni with a bulbasaur? I think this is on yellow only , but when you fight Giovanni’s nidoking with any lvl bulbasaur it only uses defense moves.

You can actually catch almost any mom that way and set it's level at different points. Gengar is the most common one seen in these videos so I guess cool ya went with Nido. Changing the mon depends on who you fight and the attack stat is the level I believe?

The only glitch I discovered playing Pokemon Red is you can get inside the bike routes without a bike you just need to keep walking when the guard stops you 😂

so these are glitches not secrets. oh well

So on Crystal I had a Fraligator that knew Flamethrower.
