I’m no expert but from what I learned the way you’re stepping is different then a swing basic, also the angle of the foot definitely showing and hers seems angled behind her foot when you say you’re stepping back her foot should be forward and stepping behind her not angled like Latin dancing.
She probably can’t help it because she is trained probably very well as all kinds of dancing and those are like Latin dancing shoes 👠
