Full disclosure: Dora has both her parents still alive, they love her, and she even made a way to keep them safe while she's away. After all, politics is rather messy, especially if you're a royal, even more so a just royal because you may be just, but rival kingdoms would still try and take your wealth through whatever means necessary.

I made a Rogue whose father was the stereotypical “No parents, dark and broody” Rogue-turned-Grandmaster of the Thieves Guild in the previous generation of heroes (which is narratively relevant to the campaign), but because he knows what it was like to grow up without anybody to watch your back, he is the most supportive, protective father to his son. It has genuinely made for some of the most wholesome moments in the game so far.

As a 5th edition Rogue, I can say that being a pyromaniac swashbuckler is so much fun!

The 120% pick pocket rate gets lowered or higher depending on the level different of the thief and target.
Also not mentioning that old school thieves effectively can't do anything without failing most of the time thus it being too dangerous to even try.
It's almost as if the guy doesn't really know first edition.

The xp tables were nuts back in earlier editions. Each class had it's own table. And the xp required for a wizard to reach level 3 would have a Rogue up on level 7! Crazy times.

My most recent rogue has a wonderful relation with her parents and a great best friend. They all encouraged her to explore and enjoy her youth. She then joined a pirate crew with Captain Crunch (he is the captain of a rowboat and thinks the ocean is a giant bowl of cereal)

Lol, I'm playing my first ever DnD game and my rogue is the only one of the party with a functional, supportive family she's very connected to. She's also very happy-go-lucky in general. That's what comes of not knowing anything about DnD before you play!

Idk first had 120% pickpocket. Damn. Fifth ed can cast spells they learned, first ed just has to watch it a couple of times. Give advantage to first then. Class expansion is fun but it dilutes class skill advantage. Pretty soon there will be tank class or an army of one. No party involved, playing by yourself sucks ass.
