Plug and Play - Pretentious Art or Meaningful Creation?

I loved this game because of how interpretive it was! No rules or tutorials but also different choices creates different gameplay. Super fun!! I could play it over and over again

From the obvious innuendos and whatnot that can stem from this game's events, I always thought the deeper message was about relationships and sexuality. What that message is, though, I haven't studied the game closely enough to guess.

i think its about a person mainly a gay guy trying to find satisfaction in sex/relationships or meaning of sex in relationships but cant so he changes genders and has relationships and sex but ultimately finds nothing. that concludes that the problem wasnt that he was the wrong gender but more that he just cant find meaningful sex and relationships. and now hes just left with a robot dick.

so it starts with a guy whos closet homosexual (explained by touching fingers which represent penises and doors that represent coming out of the closet) who tries to find meaningful sex and relationships. the parts where you have to take off the button for the plug to plugin also represents closet gay. the people in line and tapping shoulders represents finding partners (with an added irony of the other person looking for someone else) but eventually rejecting and not being happy with them. that sets up the setting. and so the main character has sex with people but when he sees them later, they dont love him explained by the scenes of dialogue. so that doesnt work so he even experiments with having sex with others while having an emotional partner (this was when two were plugged with long wires out of screen while hugging each other). but ofc that isnt enough either so he tries orgees that starts with just the two people joining in (when the four of them were plugged into each other and walking off screen) but this leads to more intense orgees: (the pluggin circles of people) but that doesnt work either.

and so after all that he gets his penis back (bc remember he changed genders and cut off his dick). and in real life people who have not working penises or change genders to male have this implantation of this penis where you have to press a button to inflate and make the penis hard. the end

thought this was just abt romantic and sexual relationships. the desire of being connected, feeling lost and running aimlessly when u dont have a companion. how sexual satisfaction makes us feel whole and how we can often misunderstand each others intentions and shut people out. idk why but i thought the one part where the plug people were shitting out coins made me think of prostitution?

The finger is still erect when the lights on, causing a shadow of the cross. when its turned off, the finger goes limp and the shadow disappears... (or engulfs, depends on how you look at it, ig)

You can’t really derive meaning from abstract art, that’s the whole point of art and why it exists, it’s up to your interpretation.

That’s really why the games so interesting, it doesn’t have meaning to it, but are minds telling us that something has to be there.

The real meaning behind this is the many facets of the male gender, mostly are either struggles and negative results.

> there was a male plug that wanted to be female

> there was a male who struggles with the binary system of yes-es and no-s

> there were male plugs that were friendly at the beginning but started punching each other

> there was a couple of male and female who started only with hugging (infatuation) and when unhinged they plugged each other (intimacy)

> the same couple suddenly got into an orgy or maybe even gangbang because of how there was only one female

> the plug-centipede consisted of only males, assuming that they started this gay orgy because there isn't much females around to plug with them

This game is actually sad, both a sympathetic and apathetic nod to the men of the world.

I feel like them connecting each other in their asses is like someone trying to fit in with people even though it's clear their personalities aren't similar, but he just wants to be in that group anyways so he tries to get in however he can.

The plug people seem extremely sad and alone, even when they are in groups they are either sad or violent but at the end during the weird circle thing for some reason they don't seem as lonely because they are together and maybe happier?

I think the scene with the two plugging into the butts of the couple may symbolise them having children? Like the children are connecting to their lives, then at the end we see one of the children leave, having grown up. That then hopefully, assumes the plugging act to not be sexual, or that only the head to head plugs are sexual.

Building off that the circle scene may Represent how friends drift back and fourth in some kinda way? I am really not sure about that one.

And finally i am fairly sure that the one getting rid of their plugs is a trans woman. I am trans myself so i may be biased to see that as the symbolism idk.

The only thing I can even try to say is about the circle part, it might have to do with "no matter how much you already have, you'll always want more", going so far as to abandon what you have now just to get it.

Well I don't even think it's just undertones. I believe it's quite obviously talking about sexual things and the uncertainty of the relationship between people like the frustration getting rejected and confusion of finding a companion. As meaningless as people think the dialogue choices are (since it's always the same results regardless of what you choose) I think it's a somewhat accurate metaphor of finding a relationship.
"Do you love me?" "No"
"I think you love me." "I think I love you."
"I don't think I love you." "It hurts."

The human centipede part? I don't think I understand a thing, better not over interpret that.

BTW if you throw the pins (ones it "poops" out) the same way it would follow and pick them up and become a male. If you throw them both ways it won't know which way to go to get them so it becomes a female. Not that it matters much though, still gets rejected after similar dialogue choices I think.

It might be a relationship between two people until more and more people come in and corrrupt that relationship. Idk if that makes sense to anyone but it was a theory that came up in my mind uwu
