If you know how to use summoner correctly, you can dominate the moon lord with a Mythical lunar portal staff,Mythical terraprisma and the Kaleidoscope (you can also use zenith too when doing this)

Summoner dose some of the most damage in the game in my play through I was carrying almost all of the time

I play as a summoner so i can have a bunch of creatures jump a zombie

now I get why people don't like summoner, but HOW IN THE WORLD IS COMMANDING AN ARMY OR AN OVERPWERED BEAST WHILE HOLDING A VERY FUN TYPE OF WEAPON NOT FUN?!

Summoner does not lack potential in the slightest
It has the highest skill ceiling of any class with whip stacking and when used right can be the best class overall

When u finished terraria for the first time in classic mode:

The best class, based off power, is objectively ranger.

It requires the least amount of grinding, has the most options, and has the nicest early game (you can get the minishark, boomstick, and snowball cannon right off the bat without much effort). Pre-hm is a breeze when u have 2 powerful piercing weapons: hellwing bow and star cannon. Plus, fallen stars are way more common than they used to be.
The main reason why its the best though, is because u can literally run away from every boss lol. The boss Doesn't even need to be on screen for u to damage it. This, on top it having the second highest defence, makes it op.
In addition, from my experience, it's the easiest class to beat pre-mech fishron with. The dart pistol with ichor darts seems to have the best dps from what's available.

In terms of enjoyability (which is subjective) I also think its the best.
As mentioned before, it has the most weapon options. I like how the weapons are divided into bows, guns, and launchers. The launchers are very diverse, and have some creative ammo, such as the nail gun (which is genuinely a good weapon).

This is all opinion based so it’s not really accurate to everyone (also why does everyone like melee as the best class)

Iv played all classes before in Master mode and the most fun iv had was summoner I have no clue why but it was fun seeing your summons jump some poor slime while my least favorite was melee. Yea it is extremely strong and has many options while have highest defense points but it was just to bland it basically the same throughout the whole game. Same thing can be said about the range but you have different guns/bows while having different arrows and bullets to choose from

I play as summoner because its fun.
