This is so important that people know what happened here. I'm currently taking a class about these protests and it's honestly one of the most eye opening and informative classes I've ever taken. It's scary, but incredibly important. Props to my school for offering a class about this, and props to this reporter for her bravery in reporting this!

And did the west cut off China to punish them for this monstrous act? Nope, we threw money at them in the naïve belief that the Communists now fresh with western cash and goods would somehow change to a democracy, because the ruling elite would be rich. Nope....all we have done is built a huge Chinese arsenal that we may have to go to war with at some point. The rulers who committed this atrocity were not punished...no they were rewarded all for greed. Now we have transferred a lot of our manufacturing to China (Fortunately it seems we are moving that to other countries slowly now) and the US still to this day buys huge amounts of cheap Chinese goods. We are China's number 1 trading partner (China is trying to decouple from us because if there is a war with the US they hope there economy doesn't completely tank .)

China's incredibly poor economic management is finally catching up to them, and it will probably go into recession, but that may lead to war as the CCP in hopes of distracting their population might go down the Nationalist route and try and take Taiwan. I have read that China's military is actually a mess and has no hope of winning a war in Taiwan, due to massive corruption and quality of their hardware. Sigh....if the west had truly punished China after Tiananmen, maybe, just maybe a democracy could have overthrown the CCP. Many are saying it's eventually going to happen anyway, regardless of what the west does or does not do...who knows...but if the China economy does totally tank, we may have another Tiananmen. What will the west do this time?

Currently in china, this documentary about the great leader Mao and the very peacefull day on tiananmen square on the 4th of July 1989, where nothing happened is very well made.

There's a great doc by Danny Haipong contradicting this narrative. You don't actually see the events they are describing too. Lots of contradictory evidence that has the story backwards as well as anti-china propaganda. Question your news, the west!
