I'll subscribe & like.

The older i become the more i relate to Turin as the darkness that i first experienced in childhood continued...continues...to plague me throughout my life &, i have often pondered whether there is any truth to the various claims in ancient texts i.e the biblical injunction that the sins of the father will be paid for by the next seven generations, etc...as it certainly feels like i am living under a curse.

Though in years past i had seriously considered that which was Turins' final act, in memory of all the loved ones who have taken that route i refuse to...plus i'm a stubborn #*¥π*#¥ and plan to see this through to the end.

May peace favour your swords my friends 🙏

Such a sad story. Tuor and Turin met once at Ivrin. Tuor was younger and did not approach him. Hopefully in gondolin he learned it was his cousin.

I noticed that Turin's stabbing of Glaurung from a crack beneath the dragon is exactly how Sigurd slays Fafnir in the Saga of the Volsungs. The accidental incest and subsequent suicide is straight outta the Finnish myth of Kullervo. Really makes you appreciate how subtly Tolkien incorporated the mythology he was an expert in into his stories

Túrin has been my favorite character by Tolkien since I first read Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales as a teenager in the late eighties. I am now 50 and I have a daughter named Melian.

I swear that Guts is directly inspired by Turin. Cursed guy known as the black swordsman with a sword once described as oddly dull? Chronic anger issues? Became a warrior at a particularly young age and lived as a highwayman for years? His entire life was a complete shitshow?

Can I introduce myself. I'm a devout Lord Of The Rings fan. Who actually plays video games as Turin. Other times Turin Turambar or just Turin 22. I think that we are (all of course not all) just waiting to step into the Eldar days or even further back to the time of creation of Arda and the Story of it all, hell if they can do Noah then jljust

.no. hmmm The creation of the worldz and the battle for the silmarills. I think you can do it, I've a vision to be able to do it. But anyway, I forgot. Oh. Turin.. Is immorta is sne t back from the Halls of Mandos cos the House Of Hurin for effed over like and Turin kills Morgorth, stabs him in th eye, end of story..it's great . ❤️

When some people complain about how Eriador could be so unpopulated by men since the fall of Arnor, even with thousands of years passing, I like to use the fact Morgoth sent a plague that killed many men over a huge area. Sauron was his apprentice, his 2nd in command, he knew of this power and used it for his own. He knew if Arnor fell and men failed, then he would have few enemies left and his minions could wander freely when needed. So by using a plague, that kills only Arnor and it's 3 sucessor kingdoms people, his forces have all the advantages. Then, with war as well led by his servant the witch king, that's a huge amount of men gone. After that, the few that are left would either flee, go south to Gondor, or be left as small remnants like Bree and the Angle, too few in numbers to pose a threat. None would want to move up north to Eriador after the fall and Witch kings war, especially with trolls, orcs, and other foul things still around and Gondor itself facing considerable enemies. Gondor forgot the north as it focused on it's land, the allies of Rohan, and the attacks from Mordor, umbar, Harad, corsairs and Rhun. Then with two severe winters again making a big dent in populations and Eriador facing worse conditions, again no men wanted to move north to resettle. Aragorns people have to constantly go on missions to protect the people left, and often pay with death, like his own father and grandfather did, trolls, orcs, wargs, possibly even dragons once (Shire has seen dragons 300 years before Bilbo's party) roaming the land. The flooding after all but finished any chance of a city existing, as the town nearby is flooded and destroyed, and after that few men remain.None even live near the Grey havens and Lindon.

I think Tolkien's true stroke of mastery in Turin's tale is in the juxtaposition of the knowledge that a) The Gift of Iluvatar reigns supreme: no vala, elf, dwarf, or maia; no bond or iron or curse of hell can gainsay it. and b) on the Dagor Dagorath, Turin shall give Melkor his final death. Not the Vicegerent of Arda, not the Doomsman of the Valar, not even the feisty Noldo who's been brewing in Mandos about his pretty rocks for millennia. Thus shall the Children of Hurin and all men be avenged. It's just so beautiful.

Just finished reading the book a 2nd time after a decade or so of reading it to re-visit this dark, but great tale in the lore of LOTR.

My hope is that the War of Rohirrim movie is a great success to help motivate future stand-alone LOTR movies such as this story here and how this story brings a whole different perspective to the lore of the LOTR than any other story:

1) A good new villain in Glaurang who is more than just a powerful dragon, but a great manipulator too
2) How even when we try to do something good, why is that bad things still happen to us?
3) How Turin is much different from other men in the lore like Aragorn, Faramir, and Bard
4) Get some Shakespeare mixed in with LOTR to appeal to a different way compared to the Peter Jackson films
5) A LOTR story where the female characters are more integral to the plot from Morwen (Turin's mother), to Nellas (Turin's elf childhood friend), to Finduilas (Turin's 1st love interest), and last but not least Nienor (Turin's sister/wife).

As Turin tore through the hordes of Morgoth, all stood in awe with mouths agape at the spectacle. For cut through them like, like a sickle through a field of wheat. Not once did Turin show the hesitation of the gods or kings of the world, only destruction. He was a slayer, a butcherer, he was…Doom. And while mortal Turin may be, while death would inevitably come for him too, the legacy of his harbinged doom was eternal. And as he carved a bloody canyon through Morgoths armies, only 3 words went through this mind on repeat… rip and tear, Rip And Tear, RIP AND TEAR!
