While reading some comments on the python I was thrilled about purchasing one. After reading reports of fit and finish and the problems that was happening I decided not to get one. I absolutely love the design. I did purchase the ruger 357 mag match champion which is a fantastic revolver.

A lot of upset collectors seeing their classics losing value. Issues have been resolved. New ones are awesome. Read heffron precision comments on this.

Blah. Blah. All talking and speculation with no shooting. I have put over 500 rounds through mine in the two months since I acquired it, and we are just warming up. Flawless performance and trigger, especially. Most accurate, well balanced revolver I own. Yeah, It’s not blued like Clint Eastwood’s, but this Colt Python is a magnificent addition to my collection. The newer metallurgy and refinement of manufacturing over the old are also a plus.

No reason to buy a gun that is only name, when you can get the Ruger GP100 357 Mag 7 rds for half the price.

I had a Colt Python 357 magnum 4 inch and carried it before our police Dept. Went to Smith and Wesson model 4506 45 ACP. Never had problems with it or my 6 inch Taurus 357 magnum 67. No problems. I have a Smith Wesson 6 inch 629 44 Magnum stainless steel gun. Shoots perfect no problems. So quit bitching they made the future of police forcing much safer! I was a Marine Forced Recon sniper to! I never bought new made weapons any way. Nice video.

I own 2 of the older models and one 2020 4” model. The new gun is a better built period. Don’t get me wrong I love my old ones and they are collectible but new gun is just built better from the frame to the internals. The first ones released had bugs just like most others do when first released. Saying the new 2020 Python is a “No Go” is just ridiculous.

Thanks for the opinion. I’m going along with the 99% of the people who praised the Python in your comments section. The 4.25” is now on sale at Midway for $1352.00 plus free shipping. I’m stoked about it. 👍🏻

Brilliant trigger action on my 6in barrel item back in 1984…but luxury blue finish? It was good but scored on the cylinder very readily, the cylinder itself did not centre and the crane suffered a bit of hammering. Hand finished? I would have sacked the guy on whose watch it was made. Fantastic accuracy with long distance loads up to 200yards. At least I got my money back on the armistice for pistols in the UK. I would be tempted by the new model if I lived stateside.

I completely agree with the blue/nickel finish, or lack thereof. Everything is plain jane, easiest to work with STS these days. I would have had so much more respect for Colt if they offered at least a blued version of the new Python.

Anyone who ran out and bought a python when they first came back was basically a test audience…and should’ve waited for the bugs to be worked out.

Whenever you're an early adopter of a new firearm, issues may arise. I always wait 1.5 years for a purchase and per the comments, these things are workhorses of reliability and fine weapons.

No real reasons given other than you don't like the finish and teething problems with first-year examples? I was hoping to see real reasons that you consider it a no-go.

I have been dead set on getting a python since they re-released the new model. My dad bought one in the late 60's and it was stolen in the early 80's. So, it's like you said, a nostalgia thing for me. However, after watching a lot of videos on it, for the money, I can get something superior. Thanks for the video.

For a guy who did not, and would not buy a new Python, why would your opinion matter ? I own many old Pythons, 18 in fact, and when the new guns arrived, I snapped up the first I saw. I now have 2 of each length, and regularly shoot (2-3/week) the 4.25 and 6” models. Of the older models, I have 4 that go to the range along with the new Pythons. I’d estimate I have several thousand rounds fired from each new model and they are, in my opinion, much better shooters than any of my older guns. While the older Python had a beautifully smooth trigger, after a bit of break in, the newer guns perform much better. Fit and finish is excellent although I do wish I could get one blued. Don’t listen to someone who won’t even try the gun before declaring it “unworthy,” as it just proves how narrow minded some egocentric self “experts” can be.

Never buy a colt again. Bought king cobra several yrs ago and it would only fire 1 round out of 6 double action. Sent it back to colt. This time it only fired 4 rounds out of 6. Never buy a colt again. I would buy a Taurus before a colt. Colts these days are junk.

Don't like the "new" trigger. It's not the same. Should have been exact. I'm 53. When I was 12-13, my dad's bestie was a gun guy. He had a glass front cabinet with 12 of them. Different barrel lengths and finishes. I would stand in front of that case and stare for hours. He would eventually break em out and let me hold as many as l wanted. The "new" ones were a disappointment. I was expecting to see a Python. It wasn't. I could tell the difference immediately.

Completely happy with mine. Deer Hollow grips and Wilson Combat sights are the only mods I've done. I'm a bit over $2 grand into the gun and it's my favorite gun to bring to the range. Over a thousand rounds through it and not a problem and it's accurate as all get out. Money well spent for this plinker.

I'm not comparing new Colts to the old ones but rather to what Smith & Wesson and Ruger are producing. That's really the only comparison that matters to me because I'm not a collector. Most reviews say they are better finished and more refined than their peers and the difference in cost is about what you'd pay to customize a Smith or a Ruger. Is that true?

It's just too much money. You can't charge that much for a factory produced revolver and tell me it's that much better than S&W. I can almost get 2 revolvers for that price.
