How to redirect a root (apex) domain to another domain with Route53 | AWS Quick tips #1

When you need to redirect the root (or apex) domain to another domain with Route53 then you don't have too many options. You can't directly use the A record because it only allows using IP addresses or aliases to AWS resources. The CNAME only allows subdomains.

But you can use a neat little trick that allows you to use an A record with an Alias to redirect to another domain, even if that domain is outside of your AWS infrastructure. Check out the video to see how to do it.

Thanks for that, but where is the site hosted as I have not seen you adding html etc files to S3 bucket you created, you just enabled the redirect.

Thanks for that post. What if I want to redirect to 2 different domains based on GEOLocation? Do I create 2 buckets for each domain and then after 2 A records?

Can you please help me out. I'm trying to select the bucket, and the last parameter where i need to chose a resource, its blank. I cant choose the bucket i just created. I have followed every step, and i'm sure that region is correct
