I know your series are based on bankrupt and abandoned places, but I would really love to see your style of narrating and explanation on Waffles House's history
ОтветитьIn the early 90s when I was a kid, Shoney’s was unbelievably successful. Their breakfast buffet was really good, and many folks also had dinner there with salad bar and steaks.
ОтветитьCame here for the hot fudge cake sundae, stayed for the fascinating documentary.
ОтветитьShoney's was awesome and terrible at the same time lol
ОтветитьBest buffett ever
ОтветитьAll white ppl. Must’ve been a racist guy. Watch everyone get offended lol
ОтветитьMy sister is 11 years older than me and grew up with shoneys I never understood the hype until now
ОтветитьWho would have thought that liberal policies that are nothing more than racism, would contribute to the downfall of a clean reputable business? DEI hiring is a plague on our country. Hire based on skill, and desire to work, instead of checking off inclusion boxes.
ОтветитьShoneys in Vidalia GA be jumping like the “Trap house” it’s busy.
ОтветитьOh man is Shoney's dead?
ОтветитьMy local Shoney’s in Tappahannock, VA closed in May of 2023. Many childhood memories of going there for birthdays etc.
ОтветитьBack in 1997 when I moved back to Cordele Georgia I used to work at the local shoney's there until they closed the building still remains but it's run down and falling down now and I used to enjoy the food there the breakfast and lunch and dinner but the thing was it was just something about the restaurant the way it was made and have a vibe of its own the building still stands today but it's run down a lot of people in this area remember because it's alright close by where home Depot is right straight across in the back there's a cracker barrel restaurant
ОтветитьWhenever my mom sees a shoney's she has to bring me in for their dessert
Ответитьwhat the fuck i thought this was just a rick and morty bit
ОтветитьWe haven’t had any Shoney’s in DFW since the mid-90s
ОтветитьShame it was ruined by some events. Seemed like a great place in the 70s and 80s!
ОтветитьPerhaps Danner was a little too based.
ОтветитьThis or breakfast was undefeated
ОтветитьWhat’s Scott Steiner doing at the newly reopened Shoney’s in the video lol
ОтветитьDamn still a great place in history to bad they went down
ОтветитьI used to work at a Shoney’s in my early 20s. I even stayed once at a Shoneys inn in Shreveport, Louisiana probably about 15 years ago in my current career.
Ответитьfrom what I remember of them from the 90s, they werent very good
ОтветитьMy family ate there regularly in the 70s and 80s and remember the end of the Big Boy branding. They were also known a robust "all you can eat" salad (and soup) bar, at a time where those were novel. (Wendy's was the smaller alternative). I believe the breakfast bars were basically trying to re-use the bars during the AM rush.
When I visit a casino's 24-hour diner, I get that Shoney's vibe.
The rise of Applebee's, Bennigan's, TGIF, IHOP, Cracker Barrell, Bob Evans, et al clipped their room to regrow.
I used to not have heard of it until we ate at one of the locations in Tallahassee, Florida, and my mom and sister said that the food was nasty
ОтветитьPRIVATE EQUITY IS DESTROYING AMERICA
ОтветитьIn 1988 several white managers of the Shoney’s restaurant chain protested against the company’s discriminatory hiring practices, including an order to blacken the “O” in “Shoney’s” on minorities’ job applications so that the marked forms could be discarded.
When the managers refused to comply, they lost their jobs but not their resolve—they sued the company.
Their case grew into the largest racial job discrimination class action lawsuit of its time.
Shoney’s eventually offered to settle out of court, and the nearly 21,000 claimants divided a $132.5 million settlement, bringing to an abrupt end a landmark case that changed corporate attitudes nationwide.
What people don't know is that family stashed millions more in foreign off shore banks before the settlement to avoid paying out what the real damages could have been. The family still live VERY COMFORTABLY and their descendents don't have to work at all. So don't feel sorry for the family.
Shoneys was pretty gross, from my memory
ОтветитьGonna start a drinking game for every time private equity steps in to buy a struggling company.
ОтветитьShoney's will completely be gone in the next 10 years.
The one we used to go to here in Memphis was always dirty and nasty. It was under staffed and only had average and less than plain tasting food. The only tune I would suggest going would be for tha all you can eat breakfast bar, but then again, that sucks too.
weird to find this now, having lived in florida for a few years as a kid and my parents were big shoneys fans.
now i live in ohio and am watching this as Big Boy collapses in on itself....
The wrestler Scott Steiner owns(ed) a Shoney’s in GA
ОтветитьThey just tore down the Shoney’s in my hometown.
ОтветитьLoved Shoney's!!!
ОтветитьAnyone still have a Shoneys Bear?
ОтветитьI love captain d's I wish there were one near by. The closest one is 2 hrs away
ОтветитьI vaguely remember Shoney's by name but that's it. Wonder if there's a video about chichi's
ОтветитьMy mom has a fond memory of going there in ‘95. She was visiting her parents in Florida for the first since they had moved. They took her to universal studios after.
ОтветитьHonestly unless you’re chilis or Applebees chain restaurants aren’t favored because of all the shortcuts and bad quality food/service. Mom and pops are so good now and are always way busier.
ОтветитьI thought thisbwas just a South Park thing😂 i had no clue this was real😅
ОтветитьShoney's went downhill though. Food quality that is
ОтветитьBased Shoney's
ОтветитьShoney's started Captain D's!!!!????? No way!!!!??????
ОтветитьI loved shoney's as a kid! I was born in 2005 and so it was wayyyy past it being popular but it still had that classic look to it. I never forgot about it
ОтветитьHere bc Rick and Morty 😂😂
Ответитьi should probably talk to my dad
ОтветитьShoney’s was lit and you used to get a lollipop when you left 😢
Ответить🤔 I was unaware of this always found food rather delicious myself..must have been before all this mess
