Beginner Blender 4.0 Tutorial - Part 3: Modelling the Icing

A Z fighting... So, now I know what World War Z all about.

I made it to the icing in the 3.0 before realizing I was in the wrong version.

Hi Andrew, after i snapped the model, my laptop suddenly extremely lag, and the blender is not responding, any tips?

why i don't know but i didn't faced that icing problem :) without any fixing

I got like 15 minutes into the icing and something happened I tried to undo it but messed something up so I have to redo this again…not giving up just annoyed atm

Great stuff. I think the last trime I tried to learn this I gave up about here just because there was so much to take in but it's starting to 'gel' this time. Keen to press on now!

I accidently hit something and my point of view is off center instead of always looking at the middle and it is annoying, how do i fix this

Not sure what I did but the icing layer when scaling up size starts to look like a mushroom with spikes.

Damn, Blender has really made strides over the years huh

My Icing has a thooousand polygons now- can I reduce the amount after solidifying, giving it texture etc?

Hi guys I have a problem when I wanna cut the bottom of the icing. When I go to edit mode the donut also get cut I dont know why but when i click on the icing and go to edit mode, i dont know why but the donut also go in edit mode and get cut in two also. Could someone help me if ive been clear enough. Thank you guys

Sadly, I get tons of mesh clipping that I can't seem to resolve despite having the settings identical to the video.

I just want you to know that I am an art student in college, pursuing an animation degree. My Illustration teacher actually recommended I watch your tutorials and learn blender since I am ahead of the class. This is to help me make a pub scene for an animatic I am working on, so that I don't have to be fussing around with perspective in the drawing process.

This is so clear and easy to follow! I hear about Blender being a nightmare, and maybe it has something to do with me being an art student in college, but I actually find this to be less intimidating than I ever thought it would be thanks to you!

Thanks for this tutorial. Finally getting the hang of 3D design! ?one thing I managed to mess up is that the viewport doesn't rotate around the object any more. How do I fix that?

Been cooking up my donut for the last two/three days and just got got through part 3. Thanks for your help my dude, wish me luck boys!

So I ran into a major problem here. The donut does not block your selection. So if you box select the icing and the other side is in a straight shot you will accidentally grab verts clear on the other side of your donut and be moving them around without realizing it, destroying all your work. Only select your edges when you are looking at them from a high angle. It took me forever to figure out what was going on.

I have some problems implementing this tutorial. But I'm going to look at it again to get it right.

For anyone having trouble with snapping the vertices during the face project portion, make sure you have 'Project Individual Elements' enabled. It was disabled for me. Thankfully chatGPT helped.

after duplicate the new object just turns red and I can't edit it at all, how to turn it yellow

Help! Part of my icing keeps being pushed into the donut when I drag it down... what do I do?

Modifying the Edge Data > Crease inner has no effect on the shape on the icing for me..

How is he drawing in the viewport like that? Is that the grease pencil? Is there a shortcut for that?

For the selecting and hiding of the internals of the icing and adding and removing rings of vertices from the selection, make sure to use the number pad's + key, not the plus on the row with numbers below F12.

Please keep in mid that you have to hold down ctrl and tap + to add more or hold down ctrl and tap - to add less
