I know there are tools to automatically find the key for you but I do encourage anyone to try and get the key by ear or trying out a few notes on the piano, it helps your relative ear and your overall musicality

Well, as per use, you forgot to mention the fact that there are absolutely no definitive settings. It’s all about context, sections and effect. The more you dial it in, the more accurate it will work. And, more importantly, when it comes to R’n’B, singers will tend to sing odd notes that fit the track wonderfully. In that case, your « perfect setting » only kills creativity and ideas.
What was a good tip turned out to be a « i just discovered something on a particular track and I thought it was end game » type of situation. Dam’, guys, I’m not even ranting at that point. Takes 2 seconds to mention…

Also I just wanted to let you know antares has a plugin called Auto-key it tells you the key signature and automatically changes it for you :)

To that guy that said that you don't have to find a BPM of a track to sync the key of the track to that song don't know what the hell he's talking about all you new engineers that just started this don't know what you talking about stay out of people way that know what they talking about cuz yes you do have to find the BPM of a track to sync it to the grid in order for the auto-tune to work with the key of the track if you don't do that it's going to be off the auto tune is not going to work properly Plus you have to know how to sing in notes so if you don't know how to sing in notes the auto tune is not going to work properly auto tune is not used like T-Pain is using it is used to correct your vocals that's it with we using it for is the incorrect way to use it but that's the hip-hop way

The key is going to change every song.. (didnt mention) The retune speed 35-10 is a massive difference.. (didnt mention) A retune speed between 45-55 requires someone who can already sing better than 90% of people.. (didnt mention) these setting will not work for most people, every person needs different autotune setting catered to them specifically. Applying the wrong amount of autotune can actually make your vocals sound worse.
