Gas Cap Solves Check Engine Light

How would you know if the valve in the gas cap is bad

Does a lose gas cap can make the car run differently or unresponsive?

It made the car run rubbish too like fuel starvation and knock sensor code because of fuel cap?

Been driving for a good 25 years. Never had a gas cap go bad on me. Other day engine light came on. Hooked my reader up and said small leak. Stopped at the gas station on my way to work and noticed my gas cap felt loose with no resistance at all (I remembered what it felt like before). Ordered a new cap from amazon and cleared the code. Problem solved.

I have discontinued my check engine light , a garage has done it also. It stays off for a few miles after driving and comes back on and will not stay off.. Garage can find nothing wrong and for over six years , I have driven it with the light on with no trouble.

My check engine light has been on for six years. I've had it checked and told nothing is wrong with the car. My coolant light has been on for two years and a garage checked the hoses, clamps, radiator cap, water level, and nothing is wrong. They said to drive it and ignore the light and I have with no trouble.

Took the dealership where I got mine from 10 weeks to sort it..new EGR Valve..

My light is on & the car gets up to speed slowly. Happened to me once before years ago & new gas cap fixed the problem, but not this time.

The light can still on sometime and also it can flash in when you stop in the 🚦 No problem , buy another Good ObD 2 2023 , you can still drive as long as the engine is Not red light engine at that time Scrape your vehicle 🚗 buy a motorbike 1000cc and enjoy the summer. a $20 scanner will read the code & verify the gas cap is likely the problem, large leak.

Good Afternoon Sir. My car is a 2012 Infinity G37X of 4 door. I bought the gas cap at the original Infinity dealer and the engine light was erased by the mechanic and the engine light came back again and this month I have to do an inspection with MVC and I'm worried. Please I need some advice. How solve this problem? Thank you.

This happened to my 2009 Subaru twice already and I have had it for a little over 1 year now; and it runs pretty well too at 178,000 miles or so. When this happened, I unscrewed and screwed it back on, and restarted the car twice and it never came back on again. The only other times this dreaded light came on while driving was once due to a spark plug issue and then another time because my E-brake needed fixing. Otherwise, it has been smooth sailing and 2 out of the 4 times, it had to do with my gas cap. Now I make sure that I hear it click 3-4 times and not loose whatsoever before taking off after pumping gas. lol. Very good video by the way.

This happened to my Toyota prius 2015 twice. I brought it to the Toyota service and they charged me $120 to diagnose & enter the code to turn off that light. They told me my gas tank cap wasn't closed tight and caused it, and I guarantee that I closed it very tight until I hear many clicks, not sure why 🤔😒

I will try it. Auto Zone code came up gas cap. Bought one today, light still on. Man said it does not go out immediately to run the car 50 mins. I’m retired and do not drive mush. Lol

From what I could see on the video it looked like your cap was ok, but it looked like you had some crude on the filler neck lip (goes to gasoline tank). So maybe that was the issue, and you did not need a new gas cap after all. The check engine light you mentioned could go off simply by fiddling with the gas cap and temporarily making a better seal, and could reoccur if the crude on the filler neck lip is really the thing causing a bad seal. Suggest you clean the filler neck lip, etc. Further, you have the most reactive check engine light I have ever heard of. Usually check engine lights take awhile to react to a gas cap issue (a day?) and takes awhile to clear when the problem is solved (another day?).
