I also think its not enough buttons. Four in a row ? We had 5 in the normal version.. and because of the missing button we have now huge ugly gaps.. fail in my opinion. Plus they made a mk2 of the original one wich has swappable faceplates. This thing has no removeable Faceplates, wich means i can't match it with the other stuff :( So now what Elegato ? You going to make another version with swappable faceplates then ? No come on, you should have learned that allready... Or is it just the greed to make us pay for an extra one... f**k I hate it.
ОтветитьI actually agree with you. I had the same thought. I want to wait to see if they come out with a stream deck plus XL with 16 buttons and eight dials. Then I would definitely buy it.
ОтветитьYou do know with just a swipe on the screen will instantly get you a new set of 8 buttons + profile changes on the knobs (if you want). My main problem with the design is that the cable is hooked to the top back plate. They could easily just route it down to the base, like earlier products.
Ответитьtbh i think they should have integrated the wave XLR and this new stream deck plus into one product.
ОтветитьI don't think this SD+ is an "upgrade". It is more a complement.
You have 4 tactile buttons on the screen. so it is 12 buttons...
And each knob can act as one ore more buttons. So it depends on the usage but I think that you can't say "only 8 button". You have 8 buttons, 4 stackable controls on the knobs and 2x4 rotating controls.
And don't forget the pedal : it can multiply these controls !
I think this product will do better for those that are content creators. In the sense of livestreaming isn't content, although I understand that is a debatable opinion.
But for those that make videos...this product has potential assuming the knobs can be setup to do certain things in certain programs.
My prime example? In Davinci Resolve it would be godly if I could use the knobs for color/audio correction. I've already heard that you can use a knob to scroll through the timeline which is already stellar, I've been dying to get my hands on the Monogram creator set pieces solely for the "orbiter" to make scrubbing through my timeline easier. INSTEAD I can buy the Streamdeck + and get more than one knob AND have profiles setup at the same time making video editing a breeze (hopefully).
As a result I don't see the lack of buttons as a con but instead a plus. I need less button pressing while editing (unless I'm doing text). I want one hand on my Razer Tartarus and, potentially, the other on the Stream Deck + with occasionally moving my hand to my mouse to do whatever else I need.
Sure if you're JUST focused on the Stream Deck + being used for livestreaming then I GUESS the lack of buttons is a downside, BUT for someone who will be buying this to help edit videos. This is the perfect product to hopefully replace the Monogram setup I wanted and for a much cheaper price too.
I feel like the StreamDeck+ would be a great complement to my StreamDeck XL. So what I'm thinking is, the plus could be used to control my audio and dynamics etc for the various inputs of my ATEM switcher, as well as potentially adjust things like SuperSource with more granularity, so for me that's what I want to use it for. Potentially I could do some HyperDeck stuff too with the dials.
That being said, I understand the limitations of 8 buttons, but in addition to my 32 of my XL that I use to control most things that don't require dial control, I feel this could be amazing. I also use Companion because well, the Blackmagic Design devices don't have a built in StreamDeck plugin.
So yeah, on its own, it's not that great a device, but as an addition to an existing StreamDeck device (like the plus suggests), I can see it really coming into its own.
I agree. Elgato are bound to release a larger one in due course, which will be much better for my needs
ОтветитьI have 3 xl SD’s and still feel like I dont have enough buttons lol
I picked up the plus and I really do like the design and feel of the dials but as you stated, more buttons would be nice.
The biggest grip / disappointment I have with it, is the fact you can not control OBS audio sources which is the main reason I got it. The fact it was released without this built in the software, its mind boggling. Hope to see an update to this very soon because this will be the deciding factor on keeping it or returning it. As it sits now, its just a pretty paperweight.
They should have named it something else. I thing that was the biggest downside. So many people don't realize it's really a midi controller with a built in audio mixer. I just think elgato didnt want to pigeon hole the product for one thing. If you put this up against the beacon mix create it destroys it because it can control your audio and then be used for so much more.
ОтветитьNo interest at all, he doesn't have the streandeck+. Not a real review !
ОтветитьWant to control mic with my knobs but no option yet... zoom contol with knobs would be cool
ОтветитьWhat’s the best way to connect and talk to you Sam
ОтветитьClickbait can't imagine reviewing without owning
ОтветитьI guess you are using it wrong as the swipe interface can let your quickly access to new buttons and including the tactile and knob buttons it’s more than 8 buttons . You should’nt give up and try again to get used to different kind of buttons and perhaps spend more time programming your stream deck
ОтветитьThere's a company called SideshowFX that makes scripts for these and for Cubase and Resolve the Stream Deck + has been absolutely amazing in my work flow. You should definitely watch their videos because you complaining about lack of buttons shows that you don't know what you're talking about. Almost like being mad that a phone doesn't have enough buttons. Lol. You swipe the touch screen to articulate through as many buttons as you want just would on a phone. And I much prefer its features to the button only options. I can't speak for other DAWs, but this is easily programmable to do literally anything you want in Cubase.
ОтветитьI suspect they were aiming at people who want to use a stream deck for post editing videos and be used as a secondarying Stream deck. I do agree they could have added at least another 4 rows of buttons.
ОтветитьIt would be awsome if it powered 250ohm head phones as well
ОтветитьThe Razer stream controller (Loupedeck) actually shits all over this. Thinner, can be laid flat next to your keyboard, more knobs, more buttons, haptic feedback... but the software is worse
ОтветитьI still use my mk2, it does everything I need it to so it fits my needs for now atleast.
ОтветитьWhat are your thoughts on the new Stream Deck Plus ?
