Hey, I just want to thank you. This method will be helpful until get a preamp. Just one question. Is it normal when I hear back my voiceover I can only hear it from one side of my headset?
ОтветитьThank you I have done an endless amount of research and I'm happy to say your instruction on how to get amazing audio with a dslr is where I'll leave my research at. I'll be using this set up for my upcoming documentary
ОтветитьHello Gary, thank you for your video. I got a question. For my setup I need to have a handheld xlr microphone and lavalier microphone connected to zoom for the same person since sometimes I got better results with various mics. Now I know how I can have separate recordings and have them on zoom h5 but is there any way to send only one signal either mic 1 or mic 2 to Line OUT fir the camera. I dont want to have both audio mic married to the video I would like only one and then if the other one will be better I can replace it from zoom. Thank you
Ответитьcould you use the zoom ams 24 ? insead of the h5
Ответить1) Can I use Sound Device Mix Pre 3 (with DSLR and Mirrorless) instead of Zoom H5?
2) Could you please help me to record sound in Red Scarlet - MX internally with Sound Device Mix Pre 3?
Thanks,
I'm Larry from Kenya, assist me one camera/zoom recorder
I'm doing classes on ielts and physiology
Can I use the same set up and take split sound on camera(R&L)?
Or the device sending only mixed sound to my camera?
Hello sir, I am a singer and would like to record my shows with the good quality sound using my music Mixer and picture from my camera. Can you please help me.
Nick Sangha
Thanks
Where do you plug your headphones ?
ОтветитьHello. Thanks for your useful videos. I have a question. Is it possible to connect a Zoom h5 device to the phone(Samsung S7) and get sound with this method? I've been trying, but I've failed. (With 2 and 3 line Aux Cable)
ОтветитьThe treble is a little high. Im getting hissing on the S's.
ОтветитьHello. Why don’t we just record into the zoom? It has SD cards
ОтветитьCan I do this with my zoom p4 ?
ОтветитьThanks for this.. from Nairobi Kenya
ОтветитьThanks again for the video. Is the mini-jack connector cable a specific one, or can any mini-jack to mini-jack cable work for the connection? Thanks!
ОтветитьHi Gary, interesting. I use the h4n, with my mirrorless, I use at the same time the front mic and an input (ice cream cone mic) connected to the mirrorless with minijack, but when I go to export to the premiere timeline and separate the channels I find the channel of the internal mic clean, while the input contains both tracks and there is no way to separate them, it seems to me a limitation of this fantastic recorder. (which does not happen if I record on an sd card) Have you ever had this problem? I thank you
Ответитьi enjoyed this video ...quick questions 1. will this work with a go pro? and 2. when the zoom is plugged into the camera i assume it cancels out the cameras internal microphone? thanks again for the concise and to the point video . im planning to make a video demo of my acoustic act for gigging porposes and i need good audio .....cheers mate g'day
ОтветитьWouldn't you want to floor the camera's inbuilt preamp? It seems like the the lack of graduation on the H5's line output (i.e 5db increments) prevents you from matching it up perfectly.
ОтветитьDo you do the same setup and settings without extra microphones? Does the zoom record its own sound through it's microphone as well through the camera. So you can have a backup if something went wrong. Or your camera just are not good enough with the levels. (My camera don't show levels...just a meter. That goes up and down)
Ответитьcan zoom h5 do MTR mode like zoom h4?
ОтветитьThankyou sir
ОтветитьWhat a brilliant tutorial. Love your style too. Thanks Gary.
Ответитьcan we use zoom h5 for Facebook live? will he be affected by audio interference??
ОтветитьBut the final audio file is 16bit or 24bit?
ОтветитьCould I do this with a tascam also?
ОтветитьCan U simultaneously record in the H5 card
ОтветитьIf I’m setting up the Rode wireless go II in this manner, connecting the receiver to one of the XLR jacks (and set for separate channels), how would I get the audio to be on separate channels on my camera audio?
ОтветитьHi Gary. One question. Wouldn't putting the Zoom in stereo place one mic recording on the left, and one on the right channel? Wouldn't it be easier to record a mono mix so both channels reord down the center of your dslr?
ОтветитьI wonder how an iPhone or S21 Ultra would see this? If it would be seen by Filmic Pro with 1-going to-1 and 2- going to-2. Wonder if THIS would be seen by phone like it would "see" the new AI-Micro from Rode. I really like being able to ride/monitor the H5 levels.
ОтветитьThanks for this video! Would the attenuation cable also work with a Sony camcorder? Thanks!
ОтветитьCan this technique be used with a new Samsung S21 Ultra phone? I really want to record two mics into it and have each on its OWN channel.
QUESTION: Is there a way to use the H5 or some kind of breakout like the Rode SC6-L to record TWO mics with one potted full left and one full right to get two-track audio for interviews? The SC6-L works for Apple but isn't "intended" for Android of 3 years ago.
I am wondering if the new C port on S21 will work like Apple? Or, if there's ANOTHER way (like using an H5) without having to sync after the shoot. I do documentaries and really want to run 2 mics.
Informative - thank you
ОтветитьCan you record to the unit as well in the camera so as to have dual copies?
ОтветитьDoes it have to attenuator cable ? Since output is headphones line but camera input is for mics
Ответитьhow the out of the zoom is a line and the in of camera is a mic , is not probleme of distorsion ??
ОтветитьHello! thanks for the video. Can I use the TRS cable to connect my Tascam directly to the camera, to speak through the Tascam so that the sound goes directly to the camera and records it there?
ОтветитьThangs alot! Benefitted from. Subscribed. Now, Gary: I'm guessing at audio... your accent. Durban? PE? East London?
ОтветитьOk first off, does the Zoom come with other connections than XLR ? The fat cables are not very practical to what we're thinking on, a talk show with bulky mics wouldn't work unless your a band. Presently we've been using a wireless but 2 mics will be needed soon.
ОтветитьBig help. Thank you
ОтветитьVery helpful. Could the Zoom also record, serving as a backup audio file? Why do this instead of recording audio separately and then syncing? Is it to avoid that step (understandable!)? Are there other factors that influence your decision to record to camera or separately?
ОтветитьCan you also do this with a zoom H6 with 4 xlr input?
ОтветитьThe video was useful to me
ОтветитьIncredible, thank you
ОтветитьThis is where I get into big arguments with audio/sounds guys on movie sets. I for one, don't see the point in doing sync sound anymore. I've done something similar to this but with the nux b-3 wireless system. I connect my sennheiser mic wirelessly through that system with a saramonic preamp in between it to make the quality better. I did test this set up in the video too and it works quite well, it has the added benefit of being able to record your audio twice, once on the zoom, and once on the camera at the exact same time, so that way, if one gets lost, you have a backup file either way. So in total, I now have a wireless boom set up for film projects and the audio sounds great.
ОтветитьCan you connect the guitar in one mic input of h6 recorder 🤔
ОтветитьVery instructive. Consider me a new subscriber.
ОтветитьHi Gary, what mics is recommended in recording sounds from HiFi speakers like Sigma Acoustics?
ОтветитьIt was very helpful! thanks...
ОтветитьIs doing it this way allow the camera to skip the step of syncing in post?
