these are the best if you're going for that sound.
i use daddario chromes flat because compared to these la bella's the chromes are on the brighter side of the sound spectrum, its great if you're using it for heavy music.

I’ve never been a fan of labella’s tryed them many times and even left them on a bass for a few years to see if they settled in but alas I’ve never liked them .
Diaddario chromes just sound and feel the best over time . Especially on a P bass . Even short scale they worked much better

The exact set that I use on two of my basses. The other two are strung with Fender 9050L that are a bit brighter.

I love LaBella flats! I have them on my Jack Casady, SG bass, and Rumblekat. I’ve tried many, but these just suit the basses and my style perfectly. I know the TIs are supposed to be great, but they are a bit expensive for me.

Would love to see a video on the LA Bella Gold White Nylon set. I've heard they're the brightest nylon tape set and I'm interested to see if they're bright enough to cut through a rock/metal mix.

Killer strings. I experimented a bit and found they work great with my old Mexi Jazz bass with the neck soloed or all open w/ either 50% or 0% tone. Gets a good vibe with break up that isn't nuanced in the higher treble regions. Roll the tone off and you're muddin' better than an EB-0.

All my basses with flats have DR Legends on them now. They are super smooth and mid rangey IMO. You should give those a try? I think I do need to give the La Bella Deep Talkin' Bass a try as well, maybe when I (possibly) get a new shorty?!

I have LaBella deep talkin flats 45 -105 on two telecaster basses and a P bass.. The smooth feel and tension is great for me. They have been on for two years now. I put rotosound flatwound jazz bass strings on a repair I did, and they were a much rougher feel.

Great video! Was looking for flats for my 6 string, so my choices are obviously limited, and I kept seeing La Bella's name pop up, so I had to know how they rate with other players. Good stuff!

As a producer, engineer, guitar player, and bass player, I can say that LaBella Deep Talkin' Flats on an SG/EB bass, sit perfectly in a mix. The longer you can keep them on the bass, the better they sound.

The silk is red because of the gauge; if you used a different gauge, the color would be different.

Jack Bruce used the same light gauge set when he played his Gibson EB3 (SG bass) with Cream.

LaBella makes a set specifically for the Fender Mustang Bass. Tey also used to make flat-wound and round-wound sets specifically for Danelecto basses.

My favorite flat-wound bass strings in no particular order: LaBella Deep Talking (and Light Tension); Rotosound RS77; Pyramid Gold; vintage Rickenbacker. I choose the string according to the sound I want and the bass I'm using; same thing when I use round-wounds.

I happen to have the the largest selection of vintage guitar strings in the world, going back to the 1940s, after WWII.

I've done many tests with bass strings. Let's talk if you're interested.

Put the La Bella Deep talkin bass flats, short Scale on my Short scale Sterling Music Man. Sad to say I just don't like them. Such high tension! hurts the fingers. Have to tune down to Eb to make them more comfortable to play. 45-105. Could be the bass? The original Ernie balls (45-105) felt pretty tight too.

I only use la Bella flats on my precision bass. A store was closing and I bought up some extra sets at half price but I’m still using the set in then and they sound great. Jamerson had fantastic taste in strings. Honestly the best all around I’ve ever used.

Is your Babicz bridge installed to your bass with or without the bridge plate?

Ответить
@MemoryDrawingsBand
@MemoryDrawingsBand - 15.05.2024 19:59

Agreed. I really loved the D'Addario Chromes on my Guild Starfire Bass, but since it's a weird 30.75" scale and has an asymmetrical trapeze bridge, I had to manually trim the silk on the E and A string. Since LaBella medium scale is 34.25" from ball end to silk, they are a perfect fit for the Guild AND sound killer, as you've noted.

After comparison I do think it’s easier to get a rounder sound out of La Bella flats as compared to Rotos, they are not as punchy as the Rotos but more slippery for sure. But they’re not as slippery as the Chromes.

Can't beat those! They will last as long as the bass. When I ran roundwounds, I'd boil them about every 10 gigs. Just wipe flats, NEVER change them. they get mellower and sweeter with age.
