I've found a little fat in my coffee is helpful at the beginning of a fast when grelan is peaking in the morning. Dr Fungs' approach to weight loss is so common sense and has been beneficial in putting my T2D in remission. It's all about pursuing an optimal quality of life. Fasting is a tool that is helpful, beneficial, and hormonialy sound for the human body. I'm thankful for the internet that has allowed for this information to become available, and I am thankful for Dr. Fung sharing his research, findings, and knowledge. Once again, a Canadian physician/ scientist is breaking ground in metabolic health. Thank you, Dr. Fung!!!

You lost me at three, thirty-six hour fasts per week. From what you said in the video you said specifically he would not eat for three days. A day is 24hours. So you basically said he wouldn't eat for a 72-hour period.

Wanted to clarify this with you. Did you mean for 12hours out of the day over a period of three days he would not eat for a total of 36hours?

You can also do deep breathing exercises to make minor hunger pains subside. It works!

On the last day of a 7 water fast and not even hungry. Wish i could go longer but not safe, only been drinking ACV Thanks Jason for the advice

I lost 60lbs with the methods suggested by Dr. Fung. I read The Obesity Code and I followed the methods in the book. I never lost weight trying all the other methods suggested by dieticians and medical professionals. Fasting and cutting out sugar and processed foods did it for me. I was borderline Type 2 DM. I am now healthy and my blood numbers are amazing. My doctor was blown away. Thank you Jason Fung, MD. Thank you for your determination, perseverance and time. Thanks for the tips! I'm on my fourth week of ADF. I jumped straight in to it and was difficult the first week or two, but gets much easier each time. I don't know what my weight was when I started, but the last time I was at the doctor (a few months ago) I was 387 pounds. I still haven't weighed myself but I know I'm losing weight and feeling better. I've totally altered my diet as well.

My question, for anyone that can answer, is what is the best way to get plenty of fiber while fasting? After a stapled hemorrhoidectomy the doctor suggested that as a preventative measure against future problems. After going through that surgery I will do anything to stop it from happening again. It's worked great! I switched to the capsules to get away from sweeteners but they just don't work as well, especially with fasting and diet changes. I know I'm a little paranoid about it, but still... Are there other good solutions that will soften your stool and help make it easier to pass? TIA!

I put raw onion in my mouth when hungry is bad. The stomach not know what really happen. The Camomile tee help to very bad feeling.

Thanks for the video Dr. Fung. I will try the 3-36hr fasting method that the other gentleman did, since he and I are similar. I wanted to avoid doing long term fasting or work up to it. My goal is to lower my weight, BP and I hope to rid myself of sleep apnea that I have. Oh and of course improve my general health. Thanks.

Eating carbs and I’m constantly hangry (hungry angry) and need to eat every 2-3 hours. On keto, I loose my appetite and intermittent fasting is easy. Around lunch time when I start to feel a little faint, I know that means I physically need to eat. So I eat. Then nothing until around dinner time. I eat. Then repeat the next day. So easy. Could never fast if eating carbs.

Hi! Dr. Jason Fung, how can I maintain my desired weight, I am on an Intermittent fasting 18/6 sometimes 16/8 , observing low carb & sweets, I keep on losing weights, I am worried, my weight is 102 lbs. from 120 lbs. 4'11" in height. But I feel great no pains & inflammation, I am 62 yrs. Old.

After 7 months of pretty consistent ADF, my 36 hr, fasting morning headache is getting severe enough to stop me doing anything much other than break my fast. I wonder if age (58) regular fasting and weight loss has actually made my body less efficient at converting fat into glucose? I was overweight but not obese and I’m now within the ‘normal’ weight range. Is my body telling me to stop prolonged fasting? I’m careful with carb intake, but not on a keto diet & I break my fast with protein (boiled eggs) I drink plenty of water on fast days, and crunch on a few bits of rock salt and occasionally get down some fairly disgustingly milky ‘keto’ electrolyte powder. Headaches would seem to be a pretty clear indicator of protest.

friend who has T2 told me about Dr Fung. I'm not diabetic, but got long covid (4 months) which revealed some changes I needed to make. Lost 30lbs - no more HBP, apnea, shortness of breath, anxiety, aches- even stopped sweating profusely doing yard work or working out. All my PCP offered me was medication. I also liked Dr Jamnadas- Cardiologist lectures (he mentions Dr Fung- would love to see them have a discussion). When asked- I tell people- I'm not dieting, just rediscovered (through Dr Fung) a lifestyle and demonized food that many of us older people have "forgotten". As a child in the late 1960's thru 70's. People didn't eat all of the time and we moved a lot more.- obesity was an anomaly- not the norm.

Thank you Dr. Fung! i have lost 2kg in 2weeks by doing 20:4. I was a sugar addict. I cut all the sugars and carbs in my food except rice ,i eat 1/2 cup a day with 2 servings of veggie and meat at 1:30pm,my dinner would be at 6pm after work with 2 boiled eggs or 1 sweet potato.

Oh man, I just quit again. I do 20-4 fasting. I lose like 10lbs and then I stop losing weight for a couple days and I get annoyed and quit. I don’t even suffer really doing it.

Yes indeed, lunch to lunch, i eat at lunchtime. towards th evening wen im feeling just a little hungry i hv a tsp of peanut butter, i also hv a feta cheese salad with some olive oil n it curbs my appetite, iv noticed a difference, iv started to lose weight, thx Doc Fung, your amazing😍

Thank you Dr. Fung! I'm on day 8, and have lost 8 lbs. I've tried so many different things, and they were so hard to stick to, and I always gained more, instead of losing. I started 8 days ago at my heaviest weight ever, with a BMI of 47! I've now gotten under my second heaviest weight. And it's been SO EASY. I never ever expected IF to be easy. I've done mostly 18/6, with a 23/1, a 22/2, and even skipped fasting on Christmas day completely. Even with snacking on Christmas day, I still lost 7 oz that day. Getting back into the 18/6 after Christmas wasn't even hard. I have high hopes for this lifestyle change. Editing to add, my start date was 12/19/21 at 273 lbs

Love all your videos Dr. Fung God bless your work... Hope you can do a video as well on how this way of Eating might impact Long Haul covid recovering patients and how this way of eating can impact Covid pathology... this is in light of the fact that there have been studies that show covid uses fat receptors and high BMI patients fare less better than the general population with Covid because of the metabolic dysbiosis and a lot of ACE2 receptors in Fat.

if it's 3 days of fasting a week it SHOULD BE two 36 hour fast and NOT three 36 hour fasts..

I’m glad you use the word “reverse” instead of “cure” regarding diabetes. Once your pancreas can’t produce sufficient insulin, there’s no curing that. Managing with diet & exercise is best case scenario.
