Hi, i want to delete the RAID, recreate the RAID and perform a BMR after that(i have backup my data already). Do i need to erase the disks somehow before deleting the RAID or the RAID deletion is enough to get ride of the old data?

Very Nice (Thank You)... Which version of the "Smart Storage Administrator" were you using. I was hoping you would hit the pull down arrow next to the name, showing the version of the software... I'm trying to upgrade a DL380pGen8 Server from"HPE's SSA v.2.65.7.0 to SSA v.4.15.6.0"... their latest version can only run as a WEB Enabled App (will not allow it to be installed ~ upgrading my SSA v.2.65.7.0) (?)

awesome video, I'm very happy to be one of your followers, after one year of this video release, I'm finally are going to buy a used hp dl380 g9 8sff, i have multiple question from you, i really appreciate your help, first is how loud it would be under moderate load, i know it is very noisy in booting sequence, for two or three minutes, how loud would it be in other situations, I'm planning on putting this in my room, it would not be on 24/7, i need it be that quite that i could do my labs with it, the other questions is using non hp certified storage, like you did in this video, with Samsung drives, in the server, I've heard and read that because of miscommunication between ILO and ssd storage (in general non hp certified storage) in this situation, the ILO is not able to get the temperature data from SSDs and in return the ILO would speed the fans up, even there are no reason for that, temperature wise, is it true?, i really like to use consumer SSDs like evo series on my hp server(i haven't bought it yet) without getting deaf from the server's fan noise, your answer and experience would mean a lot to me🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
edits:
for record my raid controller would be p440ar 2g
by hp certified i meant having hp firmware in it.

"Box 3" states for Internal cage number free :) Becasue this 24 Small Form Factor cage server version can have 4 sections. 3 available from face (3 sections containing 8-disk bays) and 1 rear section (for 2x SFF). So in your case - right section is called "box 3" :)
and ADG - states for Advanced Data Guard
And I would suggest to boot from SSDs (as a target for OS) ;) And make them as RAID-6 ADG than RAID-5 + spare. Almost identicall performance but twice as much security. In the same time 2 disks can fail. But in fact SSDs are not good for RAID-5 or RAID-6. Should be mirrored RAID-0. So => RAID-10.

Good morning, thanks for your lesson.
I have a HP Gen 8 MicroServer with 4 drives (2 with 1TB each and 2 with 2TB each). I mounted an array and logical drive raid with the 2 1TB and have done the same with the 2 2TB.
One of the 2TB disk broken and i have replaced it hopping the data would be rebuilt. On this server i have Windows server 16 and WS16 don't show the logical drive or the folders on it.
In order the server rebuild the information what must I do, please?
I thank You for instructions You can give me

God aften, If the Windows version of HPE Smart Storage Administrator is downloaded and installed on a production Windows 2019 server, will it simply discover the existing array configuration with no disruption to production? Tak skal du have

Hi Morten, do you or anyone who watch your videos know what the max hard drive size is for an HP MSA60?

I'm trying to reduce my power usage. I have 4 MSA60s full of 4, 5, & 6TB hard drives. As anyone can image my electricity bill is as much as my house payment during the Summer. That's not sustainable for a home tinkerer!

Today the 3rd 18TB drive arrived and works perfectly connected to the on board SATA controller of HP Z420 & Z440. What's the best way to connect 9 of them externally? An external case for single drive works for sneaker netting but I will never use USB external cases ever again! The most unreliable and irretating method for over 120TB of 4TB drive storage.

This raid setup sounds great for windows sever installation ie two disks mirrored for OS and remaining three for raid 5 for data.
What is recommended raid setup for esxi installation. Obviously we can use internal USB flash to boot esxi server and 3 drives for raid 5.

Do you have the same experience with the capacitors? I just bought a dl380g8 and added a capacitor-pack to the raid-controller (has cost me only 5€).

So is this the first time you really dive into the HP controllers? You should check out the P400 and P800 series cards as well. I like them a lot for SAS mix matching storage arrays. (NetApp, EMC and so on including HP 3PAR) They just don't care what SAS hardware you connect. The controllers just uses the disks in any format.... Plus you have the Windows admin tools to boot.

copy data from raid to ZFS or CEPH
Delete raid and never go back.
Save money, time and your data.
10 years going strong, 19 drive failures/replacement to bigger drive and not a single bit lost. And I know... because ZFS knows... because...checksums-
