Honestly most people probably won't notice the difference between oled and mini led these days. However processing and zones is going to be the deciding factor. Which is where reviews come in. Most people I've heard from keeps bashing tcl and hisense for quality control and longevity. But I hear similar things from people with Samsung, LG and Sony tv's too. So clearly all technology is just getting bad longevity because of planned obscelence. They have to make money and they don't make money if you don't need a new TV often 😅

I had the same question between a QLED 65 vs LED 75/85.
In the end i found a Hisense 8k 75 inch uled for 1000 USD here in Malaysia, a crazy discount off it's retail 4000$ price. In my home it's still huge and overwhelming but definitely not regretful, bigger is almost always better.

I got a 65 inch mini LED Hisense TV for less than I could have got the 50 inch OLED, and so far I have no regrets. Given my viewing distance, the 65 literally lets me see details in movies and games I’ve never noticed before. Bigger (given a certain quality of image of course) is better for me!
Of course if I won the lottery I’d have the biggest OLED I could feasibly utilise 😁

I've sent in this question in for a couple weeks now with no answer. 😔 Maybe you'll answer it here. Would you pick a HTIB or Soundbar setup for around $1000? And what brand and model would you recommend? I have a LG C2 and plenty of space for either. I mostly use it for movies,tv shows, and gaming.

We updated an old system with an lg c3, 65”. It replaced a 50” plasma and was plenty big and very bright. Depending on the source, it can look absolutely stunning, and I’m not overselling it. There are bigger and better TV’s, but we’ll never miss out. Good stuff. 👍🤪🏳️‍🌈

So can MircoLED not get as accurate as QDEL? And QDEL not as bright as MicroLED? I get it's probably way too early for these questions but very curious as I thought MircoLED would be very accurate and that QDEL would be very bright so it just confused me a little. Thanks!

For my 2 cents I will say that size has a quality all its own. We have 4 TVs in the house. One is a 3 year old LG OLED 65”. Another is a high end Sony LED at 75”. Newest TV is a TCL S5 98” which replaced the Sony in the family room. The 4th TV was a $200 55” TCL S4 that I bought refurbished from Walmart several years ago for one of our kids who has since moved out. I put it in the exercise room and it is great for that. My point is that, on paper, the S5 is a cheap TV. For us though the S5 is the best looking TV that I was willing to spend money on. Due to the fireplace location the couch has to go at least 14-15 feet from the TV. After much adjusting the TCL looks quite good. The biggest downside is the limited viewing angles but from the couch or the loveseat it’s fine. It’s bright enough (relatively dark room) and in some ways I prefer the look of it over the Sony and the LG. For me it is much easier to adjust than the others. It definitely handles reflections better than the Sony. The best part is that from Best Buy my entire cost was $2100 including the wall mount and installation. We’ve had it a month and have zero regrets.

For me the Mini-LED vs OLED argument boils down to gaming, the console gamer should probably go OLED for peak 120fps gaming, but film fanatics might want to consider the size and brightness of the MINI-LED. Just my though process for a quick answer, it gets more complicated than that for some of course.

Love your answer about the future of TV's. However much we all may want it, there is no single "best". What's best for one may not be the best for another - both from an aesthetic as well as from an affordability perspective.

How about you tell these people, "If you are contemplating OLED vs Mini-LED, for cost issues, you SHOULDN'T BE BUYING A TV or a luxury TV!". "It behooves you that, you have much more concerns than a F'n TV.". Stop the Fo.......I mean the consumption, like this channel fuels. -As an ironic caveat: I've said Micro-LED is the future about 10 years ago

If the majority didn't like wearing lightweight glasses for 3D they sure as shit aren't going to wear the Vision. I wonder how much money Apple are having to burn to push Disney etc to do this lol.

As for size Vs oled buy the best TV you can afford for your viewing distance and try to set up your furniture to optimise your viewing distance. Sofas don't have to go on walls. 77" is far far too small for 12 to 13 ft though and more suitable for 8 ft.

Also professional modes aren't too dim. They are the correct brightness. If you prefer brighter then you like it too bright. But of course you're entitled to your preference.

I just wish one tv model supported 3d. Guess what? We’d all buy it cause we’d have no choice😂 If Sony added 3d, it would be worth the premium. Nits, burn-in, clarity, who cares? All’s forgiven😂

I’m still waiting to upgrade and every time I’m about to buy a new TV, I do 2 things. I sit closer and watch some content and realize how much easier it is to move 2 feet back and see the full image. I also put an Oled laptop on my lap that has no brightness issues full screen and compare them. Both look equally stunning with the Oled looking 1-2% better overall and that’s 1,000 nits full screen which is four times what the G3 can do.

For the brightness issue, also make sure to turn off any Eco or power saving modes. These can cap the light output of the TV.

Very much disagree that "Most folks didn't like the experience" for 3D. I would argue that most who actually experienced it did but very, very few of the people who bought 3d tv's actually ever watched actual 3D content on it. Had conversation with a number of people who saw mine back then and were wowed. Turned out they, and likely most everyone else, didn't realize the only way to actually watch 3D at the time was buying a 3D player and 3D movies. They simply had their TV doing a 3d effect on 2D content which sucked. An that is the core problem, people didn't experience it because the content was limited to one medium that required them to rebuy movies and the studios were trying to milk it as they were charging 50-100% more for 3D discs. Another issue was of course the studios that saw it as theatrical cash cow and did crappy conversions.

There's no world where a nicer image on a small screen beats a still nice image on a large one. The sheer immersion is worth a minor quality downgrade. I run a 120 inch UST projector and could never go back to a tiny little 85 inch postage stamp TV no matter what quality upgrade that offered - the UST is plenty good enough, and huge. That said, also - an 85 incher is also extremely unwieldy when it weighs over a hundred kilos, they're still enormous. My 120 felt cartoonishly huge when I was putting it up, but.... in use, it delights me every time. But I would never even consider a 120 inch TV. Talk about cartoonishly large, and 200+ kilos of mass - just trying to get that into the house would be a nightmare.

Definitely the OLED. I wouldn't get a backlit display ever again and I definitely wouldn't buy a brand like TCL. As far as the size 85" is way too big for that viewing distance.

QDEL is the future as far as I'm concerned. Self emissive is the only way to go. No blooming, hallowing, etc and with QDEL no chance of burn in. If I have to replace my A80J OLED before QDEL is really on the market it will be another OLED but ideally I'll just be waiting for QDEL.

Is the C3's processing really better than the Nvidia Shield Pro's AI Upscaling? I watched some videos of the Nvidia Shield Pro last week (I had no clue it existed before that) and it looks really good. In fact, I was scratching my head that if Nvidia can do that with the Tegra X1+, why aren't my PS5 and XSX doing AI upscaling duty to give me $100,000 TV processing?😀 Any console will run circles around a Trinnov in sound processing so the consoles should run circles around any TV's processing.

But if you want to really see something special, check out Mario Kart on a video comparing the G3, S95C, and A95L. Pause the video to see the craziness - I have some timestamps in the comments... It's amazing how our eyes can fool us that 2 images are identical when one looks like it's from a decade ago. The strangest part - in a blind test, people picked that TV as the best TV.

Wait, is that a F1 car or Fiat 500? I can't tell the difference. Can I sneak another look at it?
