Technically the red eyes are canon because in help wanted when you repair a Freddy Fazbear he has red glowing eyes that could mean Freddy had that or just in the VR game it’s pretty much a mystery and on the cover for the silver eyes freddy’s eyes are red

The reason they changed so much was because the fans were criticizing the whole afton is back thing so a few months before release they removed burntrap whole thing and cut most of Vanny. They didn’t have enough time to switch over to the mimic storyline.

Considering all the content that was cut from the trailer, I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if they cut stuff out to make it less scary. Her original jumpscare from the trailer was terrifying, and the one we ended up with was laughable

Fun fact: Vanessa’s original role before everything was scrapped and remodelled was actually protector, not antagonist. There’s proof: 1, those voicelines about “I can get you out of here!” and “They won’t stop hunting you! None of them will stop hunting you!” indicate that she was actually going to be helping us. 2, in the trailer for Security Breach, in that one scene where all the animatronics’ eyes are red (indicating that they’re evil), Freddy’s eyes are red too. This hints at the fact that he wouldn’t have been the protector in the game, Vanessa would have been. I feel like the concept of working with Vanessa instead of Freddy and having her protect you while the main cast of animatronics tries to kill you like it always used to be, as well as juggling with Vanessa sometimes becoming Vanny and turning on you, would have been way better thing for the game. Some of this is actually to blame on Matpat. He made a theory just before the launch of Security Breach that was just a little too close to what the main plot of the game was going to be, so Steelwool was forced to remake the game entirely on short notice, and things that are rushed never turn out well. For shame, Security Breach could have been such a good game… Too bad Matpat was one of the reasons Security Breach was a bit of a dumpster fire.
