what obs setting would you recommend using with dual pc set up and 2080 ti in streaming pc?

For profile do i set it to main or main10 with Hevc?

Hey Epos, did you see Apple M3 announcement that they’re adding AV1 decode but not encode? I heard there could be encode, but I can’t find any evidence on their website or anything. I know you primarily focus on PC, but for our live production, we run Macs almost exclusively and just wanted to see if you heard anything or was worth posting about.

Anyway, have been super blessed by your vids recently as we’re looking at switching to an OBS rig from H.264 Hardware encoding (crazy I’m saying that out loud) for our church live stream, just based on how much gain you get from upscaling to 4K inside OBS using AV1 or HEVC. Got excited to stay Mac, but we may end up building a linux rig now since waiting another Apple silicon generation probably won’t be only 9 months again haha.

You can also use very high core count CPU for software AV1 encoding.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I have never understood why my quality was so much worse on YT vs Twitch at 1080p I upscled to 1440 and now it looks SO MUCH BETTER. THANK YOU AGAIN!!

Why avoid 1080p?

my gpu R9 380, only have AVC encoder, how much bitrate for better quality? and resolution? i try streaming 1080p 60fps, using 20000 bitrate but still blocky

I can't get my AV1 stream to pass a 500kb/s output on my new 7900xtx. Preset set to quality, speed, nothing works. AMD HEVC works fine and instantly jumps to the 18000kb/s I have it set to. Upload speed is around 30mbps. Am I missing something?

Great video, though it did feel a bit awkward at the part where you werr telling what scale filter to choose as the video and audio was not matched in that you recommended area, but vidually showed choosing bilinear

Any reason for choosing “area” for the down scaling over anything else?

Question, why would you want to choose "area" as your downscale filter when going from 1080p --> 1440p or 2160p? Wouldn't it be best to use lancoz for higher sample rate? I'd love to know the explanation!

Question guys, can I purely use my gpu (Rtx 4070ti) for streaming and recording at the same time in obs due to dual encoding?

I have question about the high bitrate 1080? Can it be done on live streams, what bitrate is it?

Do I understand it correctly? I can use it with my rtx 2060 to record in NVENC HEVC upscaled like in this video, then render in Da Vinci to mp4 h265 and upload the result to YT with chance for better quality?

Upscale in 2k and stream in 2k is it the same thing? Do you lose aot of fps ?

Yes, you've read right, 35'000 and not 3500 kbps, AMD's encoders are pretty much the only downside of these cards (6800XT here)...

Why would you go down to the speed preset for Av1 streaming on Amd?

Hey Epos, so I'm playing Baulders Gate 3 right now, and I loaded up OBS, and now I have terrible stuttering with BG3, and the second I close out OBS, it's completely gone - why is this happening? (fyi I haven't even started streaming/recording yet, only opening the program started the stutters) *nevermind, I actually fixed it by setting the source to game capture, I hadn't set a source yet initially*

Good stuff, man! I'd like your assistance with something. Streaming with AV1 at 1440p, if I set my bitrate to 18000, will it look worse for viewers watching at 720p-1080p compared to if I set my bitrate to 9000?

Been running my live streams with1440p at 25000 for a year now. Very curious to see what improvements thia makes.

This is the first I hear of using the output field to upscale instead of downscaling. I am guessing that if you already run games at 1440 natively you'd just choose to not downscale to 1080 like you'd normally do for such cases?

Thank you for making a vid about this. quick question, YT says that 1440p 60fps MAX bitrate is recommended at 30Mbps. Do you think that's overkill or if someone has the ability to do it they should try to aim for that target?
