How to Break a Sin Cycle: What is True Repentance?

Lord, I agree. I want to COMPLETELY remove my secret sin out if my life. It's been so long since I haven't gone 3 days without doing this sin. Please, I don't want to hurt you.

I make no excuses for myself nor my addiction, but I repent daily and I also sin daily to my addiction and I hate that I do this to the point I punish myself for sinning I've even shot myself with a 12 gauge shotgun. I beg God to help me overcome my addiction just like He has helped others. Because I can't do it. It's only by His Holy Spirit and power can I change. Because my body the flesh what's to keep doing what feels right but my spirit is screaming God help me.

Yea I know, instead of feeling bad for our sins, we need to forcefully turn away from sin. I wonder why we need jesus then if we have to try to turn from sin ourselves

My only concern with this teaching is that turning from sin is an act of obedience, and the bible says were saved by grace through faith and not of works, so i guess ive just been confused.

O Father, please forgive me of my wilful sins that I committed due to my ignorance, lack of fear of God and my weaknesses. I confess them all to you O God. I choose to truly repent of my sins and I agree that they should be removed from my life. Wash me & cleanse me. Have mercy on me O Lord and accept my prayer for I truly wish to be transformed into a new creature filled by the Holy Spirit. Help me and strengthen me. When the Jailer, wanted to know how to be saved, Paul told him the Gospel: "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ & you will be saved" (Acts 16:30-31). Repentance wasn't even mentioned here.

I finally got free from sin and read the bible for about 4 months and prayer and tries to worship... But apparently im not good enough still so im giving up again... Im probably like saul and it was too late for me.. So i have to just accept hell... Faith in Jesus doesn't seem to be enough... Goodbye everyone i hope you are all happier in heaven

These things maybe sounds weird...
Sometimes I'm afraid to do almost anything because I don't know what is sin and what isn't. And I don't know why but I can never recognize which thought comes from God and which thought comes from satan. There's a huge mess in my mind and sometimes I feel like I will lose my mind if I don't figure things out soon. I'm suffering mentally and I see only 1 way to be free from this suffering: going back to sin.
But I cannot do that!
I feel like I have to go through an invisible mine field to get to Jesus and I don't even know how many mine will blow and I must regret what don't even know! If even 1 little sin is enough to show God that my repentance is not genuine, then how is it possible to be saved. I love Jesus and I want to be good enough for Him but I feel like He's asking the impossible: Notice and regret every single sin in the past; live like Jesus and never sin again or your repentance won't be genuine and you will go to hell!
I know that I can trust Jesus but I feel like I'm blind and deaf!
How am I supposed to live a life with full of joy and love if every second of my life is nothing more than extreme trials and suffering??? Sometimes I can't even figure out that I'm telling the truth or I'm lying to myself and I don't even know it!
Don't get me wrong, I'm not actually crazy (yet), but I'm really exhausted mentally! I need help because I'm slowly losing hope and faith (if I even have living faith). I know I should walk by faith not by feelings, but feelings are the present and faith is the future. I can see the present, but I know nothing about the future!

I pray God would help us abide in the true vine (John 15), and bear the Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), like we've been taught.

I’m questioning… “Do I have faith?” I even ask God if I do. I’ve fallen very short, I’m bathing in the sin tub. I’m unwilling to pray, preach, serve God. Even if I do obey, I can be apathetic about it (1 Corinthians 13). I feel like I’m not taking this serious enough. What if I’m lukewarm (Revelation 3)? My love is cold (Matthew 24:12). I need to return to Jesus. I need to take this seriously and do the right procedures.

I pray this for all:

Lord, I thank You so much for everyone! Please help us come to faith (Hebrews 11) (John 3:16), and fulfill Your purpose and will for us, as we are Christ handiwork created for good works (Ephesians 2:10). May God have mercy on us, oh God, according to Your steadfast love (Psalm 51). Let us remember that we should love because YOU first loved us (1 John 4:19). You sent Jesus to die for our sins out of your steadfast love (Romans 5:8). Your not slow to Your promise, as some count as slowness, Your very patient, not desiring that we perish but repent (2 Peter 3:9) (Ezekiel 33:11). Your love, patience, and kindness is supposed to lead us to repentance (Romans 2:4). Yes, we’re saved by Grace by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), but we should do good works to show and prove our faith in Jesus (Galatians 5:6) (James 2:14-26). Yes, God gives grace, but we shouldn’t keep sinning because of it (Romans 6:1-2), but grace and God’s goodness is a reason to serve God. Grace by faith is the cause of salvation, works should be an effect of salvation.

I pray now that God would give us mercy and grace, and let us return like the Prodigal Son, let us be found (Luke 15). Please search us, God, and know our hearts; test us and know our anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in us, and please lead us in the way everlasting (Psalm 139:23-24). May God help us confess our sin, because if we do, He’s faithful and just to forgive us to cleanse us from all iniquity (1 John 1:9). May God help us return to Him, for He has blotted out our sins like a cloud, and He has redeemed us (Isaiah 44:22). Our sins, like scarlet and crimson, but now white and snow and wool (Isaiah 1). May God make us brand new, like He intended (2 Corinthians 5:17), and may He help us apply Biblical teachings we’ve been taught like the new believers did in Acts 2:42.

May God help us boldly spread the Gospel of Jesus (Romans 1:16), and God’s Word, like the Apostles did throughout the Book of Acts. May we receive power from the Holy Spirit to live for God and boldly preach Jesus, being His witnesses throughout the world (Acts 1:8). May we be fishers of men (Mark 1:17) (Matthew 4:19), applying Biblical teachings we’ve been taught like the new believers did in Acts 2:42.

For anyone caught up in struggles, May God support us in overcoming them, as we’re more than conquerors through Christ who loves us, and nothing ever separates us from His love (Romans 8:37-39) ❤. May God meet all our needs in Christ (Philippians 4:19). May God help us love others, as God first loved us (1 John 4:19).

May God bless you, your lives, family, every good gift from God (James 1:17), may we use them to serve You and others, being good stewards of God’s Grace in its various forms (1 Peter 4:10). May God bless you all family in Christ (Numbers 6:24-26). May God keep us strong in our faith (1 Corinthians 15:58), (Galatians 6:9) (2 Timothy 2:3), (1 Peter 5)! May God give us a steadfast spirit and a desire to obey and please Him (Psalm 51:10-12). Serving God and living for Him, may we be reminded by the Holy Spirit of God’s Word (John 14:26), keep in mind that God has great rewards for our service to Him and others (Matthew 25:23) (Revelation 22:12)!

May God support us by providing our needs (Philippians 4:19) (2 Corinthians 9:8) (Matthew 6:25-33) 😊❤✝️🙏!

May we stay strong (John 16) (2 Timothy 1:7) (Isaiah 40:27-31, Isaiah 41:10, Isaiah 41:13), and may we overcome sin and anything that holds us back from your glory, and focusing on You alone (Hebrews 12:1-2)! Lord Jesus, i pray that you help me come to true repentance. I dont know how to do it . Im tired of praying and asking for forgiveness for my drug use amd saying i wont do it again. Wow... Amen, truly this applied to me. Many times did I pray in repentance from sin temporary subconciously and conciously. Lord have mercy on me, remove all to the minute detail of sin that causes me to do wrong against You. Lord Jesus, change my heart to what is right, that it may align with your heart, Lord. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit...

The irony here is that no one can even define "habitual sinning." If most of us were being honest with ourselves, we would have to admit that probably a single day doesn't go by where we don't sin in either thought, word, or deed. Of course, God hates all sin, and we should certainly strive to live godly lives after we are saved. However, no Christian can ever commit a sin that Jesus Christ did not already pay for. Anyone who believes that salvation can be lost (or proved that one never had it in the first place) by some sin they could commit in the future might not be saved themselves. Since they obviously believe that they must do some undefined degree of good works in order to get to heaven, they are not simply trusting in the shed blood of Christ alone.

Repentance simply means a change of mind. In salvation, repentance is a change of mind from any false idea of salvation to placing one's complete trust in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross. No one has ever turned from their sins, and trying to turn from your sins to be saved would constitute salvation by works. Good works do not pay for sins; only the shed blood of Christ does that.

The moment a person trusts in Christ alone as Savior, the payment that Christ made is credited to their account. They are declared righteous and possess eternal life from that very moment. Our works have nothing whatsoever to do with this, and trusting in Jesus PLUS our works would actually nullify grace completely according to Rom. 4:1-5 and 11:6.

After we are saved, our good works and acts of obedience will determine the degree that God blesses our life. Moreover, believers will all one day stand at the Judgment Seat of Christ to determine the rewards that we receive. Not all believers will receive rewards, and 1 John 2:28 says we may be ashamed at His coming.
