Dental Health & Information : Can Braces Correct an Underbite?

So glad I wont need surgery for my underbite only braces for between 22 and 24 months. I've always hated it and I cannot wait to see the end results. Not only that but my dentist told me this will help in keeping my teeth, and gums, clean and healthy. Got my top braces last month and will be getting my bottom ones on Thursday. I might need bite blocks for a while but I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end.

Please I simply put have the most advanced evolutionary wise facial structure that can be naturally achieved through 13.8 billions of years in superior 🧬 improvements.

I have an underbite and it’s not really that bad I can move my teeth back just a little but not far enough to get an over bite I think I might just need braces and my dentist said I need to wear this thing to push my jaw back to an overbite

I am a underbiter and a cross biter my under bite is 1cm away from my top teeth and my top teeth is crowded... my bottom jaw is bigger than my upper jaw 🥺 but I’m atleast happy that my bottom teeth is not crowded and it’s alright this Saturday I will be going to might get braces and I’m scared that they won’t treat me because my mouths surrounding is complicated but I’m also happy that I don’t have plague etc

Hello, I have a question, lets say i went to a orthodontics to fix my teeth. Is it my job to say or his to use his experience to fix my teeth as best as he can?
Next question what if he fixed my teeth and at the end of removing my braces i noticed that i look like i have a crossbite what do i do????

it though about it for a few days and i totally against the under-bite jaw surgery...there's not such thing as dramatic under-bite...any under-bite can be treated enough for a person not to suffer health problems with a pair of cool braces...

i had a slight underbight, and i have now had my train track braces on for a month and 11 days, but i'm worried because my underbight has gotten worse:/ is this normal? i'm meant to have them on for 12 months, but i'm worried that they'll make my teeth worse than they were before?:/

It su cks bcuz I'm just 15 and my dentist told me I have to wait till my bones have fully grown on to which they would finally do an underbite jaw surgery when I'm about 18... Problem is proms next yr. And its won't be fixed till 18...:-(

Ok, my underbite is hardly noticeable because my lower teeth are sort of "inclined" backwards! It's like a camouflage, LOL. I have no problems eating whatsoever and people always tell me I have a nice smile, I got braces today though so they can fix my bite a little bit because I still grind my teeth because they top ones are aaaaalmost touching the lower ones (that's my underbite, about 2-3 mm). Does anyone know if surgery is a good choice for a case like mine?

i have an underbite and am getting a braces consultation tomorrow. not only will i need braces (with rubber bands i think. and maybe a retainer. i'll find out tomorrow) but i will also need head gear. I think i only need to wear the head gear at night though, THANK GOD. I would NEVER show my face again at school if i had to wear it during the day lol. I put my teeth on top of eachother so my underbite isnt noticeable LOL if you're self conscious like me you should do that! :)

@YOUdumbFAKA yeah any insurance will cover it i think because my insurance is going to covor mines it depends on how bad it is though.

@YOUdumbFAKA It depends on what insurance you have. Ask your parents to see if you have dental insurance. If you do, it will probably not cover over a certain percent of the total amount in which case your parents will have to pick up the rest of the tab. If anything, just ask your parents and see what they say.

people tease me alot sometimes. I'd rather keep my big nose than this if I had a choice :( . But anyone know if insurance can cover it? Im not rich, but not poor, just somewhere in between part kind of insurance. Do most insurances cover it?
