I'm brazilian and a fluminense fan, we have just reached the final of the copa libertadores (south america's champions league). so I'm confident to say that Diniz is doing an amazing job, fluminense hadn't found any sucess since 2012 when it last won the brazilian league. It is also only the second time we reach the libertadores final, so its a huge deal for us and for people judging Diniz, he may win the most important trophy of the continent with the underdog team, a team that is only the 13th in investment in the brazilian league

The most incredible thing for me is the fact that Fluminense is not even close to be club that spends more money in Brazil, or in South America, if i am not wrong, they are the 12th in the ranking of the clubs that spend more money with salaries and wages.

Diniz almost didnt have any new signings since his arrival, ´´only´´ Marcelo, because he wanted to come back to the club that he began his carrer. The team has a lot of players from their academy, and is mixed with some veterans, such as Felipe Melo, Marcelo, Fabio. And the system has also helped German Cano, their striker, to be the player with most goals over the last 2 years, with more goals scored than Haaland, Mbappe, and other superstars at this period of time.

It is incredible what is happening, they play in a system and structure extremely bold and brave, and is very entertaining to watch. Diniz has always been labeled as a crazy manager with a system that would never work due the the fact that european system was been aplied in Brazil, and it was a superior system. But he kept his beliefs even struglling sometimes and made everybody realize here in Brazil that we were selling our DNA to try to win, trying to imitate the europeans, and we realize that, by trying to imitate them, we will never beat them at their own system, and we have the play our game, in our way if we want to be best once again.

If you are a footbal fan from Europe, I recommend you to watch some Fluminense´s matches in Copa Libertadores or the Derbys with Flamengo (By far the richest club in Brazil), that Fluminense are constantly beating in the last years, even with a massive budget difference between the clubs. It is very entertaining and interesting team to watch. Mainly because they never give up their way to play, doesnt matter the opponent. And there is a good chance to Fluminense to play against Man City at the World Club Championship, and even in City scores a 5-0 they will keep playing the same way.

Sorry for the poor english, but if you are a football fan, trust me, we watch the South American and European football, and Diniz at the Fluminense is the most interesting thing happening at world´s football right now.

What s lovely about this is how reminiscent it is of how we played as children, not strong enough or good enough to pass long distances. Should make integration of academy products into the main team much easier. Also not as much demand on the ball receiver to cope with the ball arriving from high or wide. Plus keeping your team members in view is easier. But you do need to be sharp and capable and moving away from markers and tacklers all the time. Looking forward to this being more widely implemented in the Premier League.

And it's true, we do have a different way of dealing with life, and we had to conform into this european way of organizing. Too late to change much of that, but 2022 WC was a wake up call for many people who didn't feel represented by the national team at all. Maybe it's time to mix it up a bit. However, I do doubt that this will happen, there's just too much money at stake, and money is often a conservative force.

It's really nice to see how much recognition Diniz is getting from foreign analysts recently. I'm not a Fluminense supporter, but I'd really like to see them win the Copa Libertadores this year, so people can finally stop saying that "he never won anything relevant". He should have won the Brazilian Série A three years ago with São Paulo, but off-the-field issues talked louder and we ended up finishing fourth overall. I'm also very curious to follow his work with the national team now, 'cause I highly doubt Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid.
