What a brilliancy in portrayal...especially willy loman....❤❤❤...all artists done their part very well in expressing the agony and frustrations...espevially Willy❤❤❤❤❤❤we love u willy...

I have a theory that Willy has Alzheimer’s. Well, that’s one way it could be played anyway.

I grew up reading this in high school. I first watched the Dustin Hoffman one since I was still in high school when that one came out. This is the first time seeing this one. I think they both have amazing actors and I love both versions. It's amazing how Miller captured my own family.

As it is said, most men live lives of quiet desperation. I say live like we won a galactic lottery by even being born on the 3rd Rock…loud, rambunctious, adventurous, ( not rude or selfish) have fun, get muddy…..

Masterpiece

Had never seen Lee J Cobb. I'm not sure I've seen more natural delivery before. (as an actor, I truly admire his conscious shifts from thought to tought -- intercepting movements and new discoveries as if the lines aren't learned. Just as it should be)

Seems pretty crazy to me ... unrelentingly negative and depressing for no apparent reason. I suppose the idea is, don't let your impossible dreams drive you crazy ... but this guy seems to have been crazy all his life. How the three in his family ever put up with him is beyond me. Acting good in it's way but Cobb has the bizarre characteristic that he can't go more than a couple of sentences without bursting into hysterical screaming ... weird and for the reputation it has, I found the piece shallow and disappointing.

Do you think the character Gil, from The Simpsons, was inspired by this play?! But in a satirical way.

He seems to overact in anything I've seen him in.

So much wisdom here. I am letting my unfulfilled ambitions, which i have no control over, affect my mental health and my family life. We are not doing bad, just not as good as people around us.

Lee J. Was born for this role.
For me, it's "Salesman" and "Twelve Angry Men."

I thought this was good acting until I watched the Dustin Hoffman version.

If only more boomers listened to the message of this movie.

I've heard about this play for a long time. I just could never watch it in movie form. But, I sure am glad I watched it with such great talent playing the roles. What a great written play, so American. I saw another video that says that this is not about the American dream. What B.S. It's about the stresses of obtaining the American dream.

According to Arthur Miller, Cobb was the greatest dramatic actor he ever saw. It is a blessing that they got him on tape doing this roles because this is his defining role, in the greatest American play ever written. It is more devastating in person with the right cast.

I think deep down every man fears that he is just like Willie.

We read this in my technical theater class and now I'm writing a super late character analysis of Willy, and God is this one of my favorite plays. Something about the convergence of past and present and the parallels between Willy and his son's, each set up as a foil to the other-- honestly masterful storytelling. Miller was a genius in economic criticism and in play writing.

shoutouts to Bernard for somehow surviving a fist fight against Biff, who at the time was in his prime as a football player

Problem with Hoffman is he plays Willy like he is 70 plus not 60. I still like his performance better. I can't get beyond Segal and Farrentino ....Lang and Malkovich way better. This is off the wall but I think the wife was on the Sienfeld episode ( when he steals the rye bread).

The way they talk about him being 60 years old is equivalent to 70 now
