Thanks for doing this review! We didn't have the guts to risk some CPUs on such a test. I think your application techniques looked reasonable and typical of what most users would probably do, I've also forgotten the sandpaper and I recommended it! Needless to say, I'm disappointed with your results and we'll have to revisit this. Also, I'd not recommend that your viewers use a permanent adhesive in place of a removable grease when possible as you separated these two surfaces with LESS damage than is usual! Thanks again and well keep in touch.
ОтветитьYeah. Your choice of CPUs was a very bad one. You should have changed the test system as soon as you learned it was a 70C max. That CPU was never “an inferno”, they always had the thermal limit. You can be forgiven for forgetting that bit, but not for knowingly wasting so much time, classic LTT, waste time and break stuff 🤷🏼
ОтветитьHey Linus, love the vids bro. Anyway, use acetone to remove epoxy. If you let the IHS soak in acetone it should loosen up the epoxy and you should have no trouble removing it.
ОтветитьThe default stuff wasn't even bad just 1 degree its good!
ОтветитьThey really used an AQUA - Aquarium (sealed) CD jewel case as a workbench.
ОтветитьInstead of wasting a CPU with thermal glue you should have used a couple of aluminium foils and use the glue between them and throw those foils away when the test is complete
Ответитьcamera man having mad trouble with focus
ОтветитьIf you want something permanent, just solder heat spreader to bottom of cooler
Ответитьi get it perform worse than thermal paste, thats ok bcs its not what it is, what i dont undertand its the need for this kind of product, like i guess if it doesnt degrade over time its a rlly high plus, so for things that have a hard time for service could be a nice choice, you make it more secure and forget about maintenance, but that fells like such a small niche that idk
Ответитьthats actually a wendys knife.... im idssapointed
ОтветитьAs a Dane, I love that Linus mixed the thermal compound on an Aqua CD case😂
ОтветитьGotta love "BEFORE you do what we just told you to do" instructions.
ОтветитьWhat is the best thermal paste? Noctua? Arctic silver? Grizly kryonought? Something else?
ОтветитьThats what she said
Ответить70° Max.....the good old days
ОтветитьI used thermal epoxy on my LSI 9260-8i raid card, glued the smallest water block I could find, which was a small 1"x1" one from Koolance. Card got so hot it shut my system down on air, afterwards it was getting the warmer water AFTER passing through the cpu + gpu, and it always stayed nice and cool. Under heavy system load it stays in the 50's. It's still glued on and running great 10yrs later lol
Ответитьwhere is mryeester paste 😭
Ответитьtry @mryeester
Ответитьtest SYY 157 ; i bet it beats thermal grizzly
ОтветитьSmash it with UV light 24/7, resin will turn white and starts breaking down eventually.
Ответитьi feel bad cause of how bad linus felt
ОтветитьWould you like to do a test with a high performance Brazilian thermal paste?
We ship free of charge
JB weld
ОтветитьDyson should invent a device with the ability to clean a single finger at a time.
ОтветитьLinus: "Is there anything more conductive than silver?"
IC Diamond: "Am I a joke to you?"
Please do a video on the FX-9590. Would like to see it compare to latest CPUs, especially power consumption and heat wise.
Ответитьorajel
ОтветитьWhy didn't you just use Shoe Goo..?
ОтветитьThat's straight up dumb.
ОтветитьDoesn't the mixing of the thermal paste introduce air? The removal of which is one of the most important things in getting the homemade thermal paste to outperform the store bought stuff?
Ответитьforbidden chocolate
Ответитьyou are using pro equipment. and maybe it will be "Aqua" cooled
ОтветитьYou need to try combining thermal paste with diamond powder. Mix 2g paste with 0,4g of diamond powder.
Ответитьare thermal pads any good?
Ответитьat this point we should just start using jb weld as thermal paste
ОтветитьNow you must do a Taste test.
Ответить"Well the CPU still works." lol
ОтветитьIs pointing with your pinky a Canadian thing because Linus is the only person I ever see do it
ОтветитьWell if you used it before it cured, you probably ruined the thermal paste. You have to let it cure properly before you do anything. I know from experience that if you do not let something cure properly, as instructed. It will fail
Also, the centre of the paste might take longer to cure. Depending on the reaction occurring. And remember that you used more than stated in the directions. That generally ends up with a longer cure time required.
I love the unopened Aqua cd as the mixing surface
ОтветитьCould be good for ghetto rigging cpu coolers to a cheap gpu.
ОтветитьDont test it in any way before its 100% cured...
ОтветитьThis was 2 YEARS ago! this video was im my recommended list and i saw "2 years ago" and thought "hell naw aint no way!"
ОтветитьA viewer got u to glue ur cpu and use sand paper on ur cpu, such a good troll, 🤣
ОтветитьI had that Aqua cd once
ОтветитьTHAT COOLER!!😂😂
ОтветитьWhy not pour molten gold on the dye so it's conduct heat well :P
ОтветитьUsing sandpaper would make sense with normal thermal paste also i think. You increase the surface area for the paste to transfer the heat energy.
