Not flawless, but good enough. LoL
ОтветитьHow do you view the sub divided wireframe while in edit mode? it's not working for me atm. The wire frame just displays the normal divisions
ОтветитьI created the back of the chair fairly easy but is there any way to fix part where the back attaches to it because I can't rotate it how I want it like goes into eachother also I searched a bit for a solution and I think I messed it up in the beginning with the origin point. But overall it looks okay but the attachment for the back isn't perfect sadly, if anyone does know how to fix it please let me know
ОтветитьAnybody else, as a beginner, just copy the seat, move it into position resize it and then use the different views to shape it? because I did, and it worked wonderfully
Ответитьthis chair is the perfect example of a thing that should be modeled in a Parametric Solid modeling software like Solidworks, so much faster and extremely more accurate
ОтветитьI'm very new to blender and coming from nurbs modelling. Wouldn't it be the easiest way to add a cylinder as a tool to just snap all the vertices onto (if there is a feature like this in blender)? This way the vertices would always stay perfectly aligned.
ОтветитьI did the homework and it did really well :D it's smooth
ОтветитьA live?! I would watch them... but yeah whatever I guess🥲
Ответитьat first i failed the homework but then i realised i just forgot to use the top down view so really i just finished it in class before the teacher noticed
ОтветитьI just duplicated the seat and adjusted the shape to match the diagram. It came out perfect.
Ответитьgreat format!
ОтветитьI laughed when I found out Andrew is drinking tea, Im literally doing the same and just like him I forget my teabags in my cup XD
ОтветитьFor my big suprise I managed to do the homework flawlessly and it didn't took me much time. I've put the hands behind my neck and got comfy in my chair when you said I get to watch this video in the exact position. Never felt more seen lmao
Ответитьbig sigh of relief when he acknowledged the arbitrary angle on the homework, i kept getting it to look almost perfect, only for it to look wrong from the top, but everytime I tried to fix it from the top down view, i ended up making it worse. love the homework concept, you should include it as often as possible. i was forced to recall a bunch of the tricks from earlier in the tutorial on my own without handholding, and i feel like I made the most learning progress per minute while trying and failing to complete the homework on my own.
ОтветитьThank you so much! Took me a while to get to this part but Im so glad I didnt give up!
ОтветитьWriting this after the first 30 seconds of the video. I did do my homework and, surprisingly, it does look a bit better than yours.
I used a plane with a mirror modifier, got the general shape with the curved end done, then I manually extruded it and added loopcuts to make the edges sharper. I also made a duplicate where I used the solidify and bevel modifiers. Shaping the plane for the back rest was a nightmare though.
Since I had some free time I also made a support bar between the front and back legs of the chair - a simple cube which I bent slightly in the middle and then subdivided a bit. Then I mirrored it on the other side using the chair's seat as a mirror point like we did with the legs.
EDIT: I used the metal_lead matcap with the cavity options set to max for good contrast, I think it looks good and helps me spot any things I don't like.
Managed the homework, duplicated the seat, rotated then scaled it to the size of the back and then adjusted the points link the seat till it matched (lazy way but they where both similar in shape and size). Only problem I ran into was a random crease where the mirroring joined, not because of additional geo or an extrude forgotten about but... because when I marked the edge of the seat as sharp I forgot to unselect the edge between the mirror which caused the crease artifact, only noticed this with the matcap studio light. Thank you for these tutorials and all the tips you provide.
ОтветитьAppreciate your effort...big up!
ОтветитьHit z for z axis global mode and hit z twice for local.......instead of going and manually changing modes by moving your cursor......
ОтветитьI really-really love your tutorial because at the first point it is not boring at all and at the second point I appreciate the way you're describing a little things with humor and clearness. There is no way not to learn with you! thanks and cheers!
ОтветитьGod damn, just copy where you're sitting and paste it there
Ответитьis it only me that used shift+d and astarted editing the plane until it fits correctely?
Ответитьdid it without even watching the tutorial. W me
Ответитьnot me trying to get out of ctrl alt q view by myself and messing up the entire layout🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьAndrew, thanks a looot for your work, I really enjoy watching your videos and following you, love your way of teaching and your jokes, awesome, thank you!!!
ОтветитьJust watching the beginning of this tutorial with my hands behind my head because ACTUALLY I MANAGED to get my back panel right all by myself! Granted, it took me 3 times starting from scratch each time (meaning I am really not ready yet) But still. I could cry for joy 😁.
ОтветитьI did the homework and it turned out really great...I'm in tears now
Ответитьwho else duplicated the seat for the homework??
ОтветитьLet’s goooo, I did the back of the chair with no help 🎉
ОтветитьJust duplicate the bottom seat and adjust it to fit the in the leaner, your welcome
Ответитьhomework was so easy for me by the way
ОтветитьHahah the tea bag talk
Ответитьwhat really helped me was just moving the camera around and see if i had no zig zag patterns in the straigt lines in the mesh
ОтветитьThings I learned:
How to fix a chair
How to drink tea
Marital problems
How to do homework.
is it just me or did anyone else just copied the thing we sit on and put it on the back and adjusted it a bit better to fitt
Ответитьi cant lie, i dont think i was meant to but i ended up copying the bottom part, moving it to the top and arranging it to fit the reference
i have learned how to be a lazy man
Did it with a "Grid" instead of a plane and used "twist" and "tapper", it was smooth.... too bad I didn't know the straighten techniques before haha. (or too good)
Ответитьidk how, I did it way better , way faster without even using the tricks lol, and I didn't had to fix the back supports too it was just too perfect already, and I was laughing just too hard while watching him struggle fixing it with tricks, I'm sorry but it was so funny 🤣🤣
ОтветитьI'm very happy to say that I made the backseat by myself and it was perfect. Thanks, Andrew <3
ОтветитьYou can bend the surface with the simple deform modifier (bend around a cone):
Blender 4.2/4.3 Oct 2024:
Use the mirror and subdivision modifier. Block out the backrest in the front view.
Then rotate the plane in object mode in side view. Don't apply rotation. Adjust the backrest again in edit mode in the front view.
Afterwards it is helpful to bring the vertices back into one plane: First set the "transformation orientation" to local and then enter "S, Y, 0" (scale in y-direction to zero).
Then use the modifiers “Solidify, Bevel and Smooth by angle”. The latter is a modifier since blender version 4.1 or so, click on “ignore sharpness” there.
To bend the backrest, create an empty cone centrally (rotate the cone accordingly as needed) and use the "simple deform" modifier to bend the backrest around the cone (select the empty object / cone with the modifiers eyedropper tool).
I added WAY too many loop cuts. Feels great merging all those vertices though :D
ОтветитьCtrl + Alt + Q.... Let me take a moment to appreciate this.
ОтветитьWatching the pros struggle is probably the best morale booster I've had
Ответитьwhere is the screen key tool
Ответитьshotcut pdf not opening
