agree once i start putting items on Lilipup that dog ended up being my starter and my bear trap ( i abused super and hyper fang too much) and i don't even speed run

Black and White are the only games where I tend to dump the starters as soon as possible. It doesn't help that the starting options for Gen 5 are garbage for a long time.

also when you get the first Evolution, they learn "Intimidate" meaning you have a small safety net to set up against the first enemy pokemon

when i was younger, on my friends first playthrough of pokemon white the first wild pokemon he encountered was a shiny lillipup... bro had the most pristine run of the game of all time

I remember when I first played Pokémon black, for some reason stoutland became accidentally my main Pokémon. I even got him to level 100 at some point because I relied too much on him and had to defeat the elite four.
