My fiance decided to propose me and he asked me to go to jewelery store with him. He let me choose whatever i like, but i choose the cheapest there which is around 600. It's just very simple ring with a tiny diamond. Because i know my fiance just had a job few months ago at that time so i dont want him to feel pressure about the bills because i love him so much.

Wasn't there a study that mapped average length of wedding vs how much was spent on an engagement ring? It was entertaining the pattern of it was not the cheapest rings that had the longest length but the second cheapest. A little bit of value counts but far less than a month's salary.

Dave’s advice is right: $60K income, I just bought a $3600 ring ($900 band - $2700 Lab Grown Diamond) 1.84 Ct oval. With great features & cuts. Slightly less quality grading in color/clarity, but to the human eye, there is no difference. Proposing in 3 days. Felt amazing to pay in cash.

I told my fiancé I didn’t want a ring, that I preferred saving for a house. I also asked for a narrow wedding ring as I knew it would cost less. We own our house mortgage free because of this. Rings do NOT keep up with inflation.

This is a society of non traditional modern women so why are traditional values still being discussed. Women are equal, work now and should pay 50% of everything.
